PHUKET: At least five people have been injured in a multi-vehicle pileup on the airport spur road this afternoon (July 13) after a rental minivan crossed the median strip and crashed into two motorcycles.

Traffic tailed back on the eastbound lane, from Phuket International Airport to Phuket Town, where the van came to rest after its launch across the median, near the Thalang Technical College.

Ambulances and rescue workers have sped the five injured to Thalang Hospital.

Van driver Teerapong Boontang has been taken into custody and is being held by police at the Sakoo checkpoint.

Miracle he didn't run like a typical Thai.

Maybe he was to drunk to run or he didn't want to get wet, as it was raining

"Ambulances and rescue workers have sped the five injured to Thalang Hospital." All this speeding and rushing by emergency services staff, no wonder there are accidents everywhere

Scourge of the road , here we go again, Good job the driver didn't say the brakes failed ..........would of got sued by Avis else.

Why don't they just fit governers to these Vans, Cement Trucks and buses and Tacko's, would ensure they kept to the speed limits and the drivers were at least not fatiuged, oh forgot no one to enforce it and carry out the correct checks...
