My brother is at work at the moment, hes asked me to put this on here so he can read the replies when he gets home.

His fiance has just been to the embassy to hand in her visa application (fiance visa)

They have took the money off her but give her the ducuments back and told her they are not complete. They said come back next week with all the missing docs.

1. They said she needs a copy of his passport, which she has, but it needs to be stamped by an embassy. I never had my copies stamped is it needed now?

2. A letter stating where and what day they are to marry exactly. Now i didnt do this either because it cant be done till your both here to sign at the register office (ie register to marry). He has a letter stating his intentions to marry and that they will sort it when she is in the UK. Whats that about?

3. Where she will live! Now hes not thick he understands this is one of the most important things to include and its all there so why has she asked for it?

Its been 2 years since i went through all this, as it changed that much? Who exactly would this lady be whos telling her to come back in a week, with more info?

Any help appreciated!!!

Has she been collared by one of the dodgy agents operating outside the visa centre?

Scouse.

I have spoken to her as she has said they she did hand the money over and then take a ticket and sit down and wait for for her number to come up. So i do beleive that she was within the centre.

The request for additional paperwork is not necessarily unreasonable, but it's not for the visa application centre staff to decide what is acceptable and what is not. Certainly, they shouldn't be taking the fee off her when they have not taken in the application. Does she have a receipt?

With regard to a letter confirming when and where you will marry, as you say, it is not possible to submit confirmation of your wedding date. You may, however, decide to include details of your plans; i.e. where you intend to marry, how many people will attend, whether you will have a party etc.

I have just been to my doctors to get my passport copies signed to only be told that they can not do it. They have not been able to do it for 1 year now.

This is so short notice as i have to get them over by e-mail and fax to my fiance by 2moro.

Can any one else sign it at such short notice. I have directors that can do it, I have friends with degree's and are professionals.

Are these acceptable or does it now need to be my bank manager. I don't even think he has known me for 2 years. They keep changing.

I really need help on this as she has to go back Friday.

I have e-mailed the UKVAC today to ask if they were still open. They told me as long as the British Embassy is open so are they. So i am still trying for Friday.

Does the copies have to be stamped or just signed along with a passport number of the person signing?

Burbonizer,

The person doing the certifying does not need to have known you for 2 years. S/he is purely signing the copy to say that it is a true record of the original.

My personal view is that it is not absolutely necessary to get passport photocopies certified, but if you really wish to do so, then you can go to a solicitor, but s/he will charge for the service.

Also bear in mind that the staff at the visa application centre are not visa officers and your girlfriend can insist that her application is taken in for onward transmission to the embassy.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Posted by me on another topic.....

I too applied for a Settlement Visa on the 22nd of September. We have both been through hel_l so far with all the TB testing, being turned away for missing documents and given time deadlines to hand them in and waiting and wondering what the hel_l is going on.

She was told to go away and look on the internet to see what is happening. If nothing is posted in 5 days then to call and follow it up.

Today she received a telephone call from them asking for me. My GF said that i had gone home. They asked when did he go home. She said on the 16th. She then asked how long i was in Thailand. The response was two weeks. Then she said ok thank you very much.

She spoke in english and my GF answered everything in English. But she was very confused as to why they called her and not me. I left my number there.

Can anyone shine some light on this?

Now i have another question.

I have looked on the internet today to track the process and it hase changed to

"The passport has been received from British Embassy, please collect the passport from the UK Visa Application Center where it was submitted."

Does this mean that i have it or not?

She did not go for an interview only had the telephone call mentioned above.

Can someone please put some of my thoughts to rest. I have read previous posts that say they can not refuse the visa without a interview. So why are they saying to collect it?

As said by Scouse in another thread, they can refuse without an interview, but very rare. As a settlement visa refusal can be appealed it is highly unlikely that they would refuse a settlement application without an interview. They do, however, issue many (most?) visas without an interview.

It looks like she's got it. Well done.

BTW, the result of an application is confidential between the visa section and the applicant. Passports are returned to VFS in sealed packets, so they don't know the result, which is why their tracking service merely says that the passport is ready for collection.

Do you think i should still be thinking 50/50 then?

Having read the views on both threads, I'd say you could probably sleep on a better % rating than that.

Good Luck

My brother seems to reckon that becuase they phoned up and asked for me and i wasn't there, that they were checking to see that i couldnt help her. They asked when we were getting married and she told them. They then said "thats what is in the application. Thank you very much"

I think that was the interview. Could i be wrong on thinking that? I hope this is it.

Also quick question..... Can she ask for the TB xray results from the application? I have heard that this is required for the passport control into England. I find this a little strange as they can not get the visa without it. So surely that is proof that she has had the TB xray and that she is ok. Why does she have to show it again?

My G/F has just told me that the lady at the VAC told her that when she goes to the airport and hands over the visa the person there will ask her some questiosn about me. Like a mini interview i suppose.

Is that true? Is this a new thing or should i not be worrying?

Also how (where) would she go to get insurance for the travelling that she will be doing?

Well done to you both Burbonizer, seems like you had everything covered. :o

When my mrs came here, she had a piece of paper i sent her, with my name and address, contact details etc. so she could show the immi officer where she was staying. She didn't have any problems. Good luck.

Do you mean when she arrives at the UK airport ? Certainly the immigration oficer will ask her a few fairly basic questions like why is she here, who is she staying with , names addresses and the like . Nothing too taxing . Nothing to worry about although it can cause delays depending on the mood of the IO , or conversely can take just a few minutes .

If you mean arrives at Bangkok airport then they will check her visa but not ask any questions usually.

I imagine the place that sold you thge ticket does travel insurance , if not call one of the main agents in BKK... not difficult to arrange , although IMHO unless you are the kind of person who loses things , travel insurance is a waste of money anyway.
