Has anybody got any recent experience taking dogs on trains here? We plan to take a little trip to Hua Hin for a couple of nights, we've got a little toy poodle, I don't mind sitting in 3rd class, done it before, not a problem, I just don't want to turn up at the train station and be disappointed.

Thanks in advance for any recent experiences :)

have taken out 2 chihuahua dogs on the kanchanburi nam tok train in both the normal 3rd class and the special 100thb seats a number of times. They have to pay full price the same as my price or pretty close to it.

555...I also remember taking our little chihuahua on that same Kanchanaburi train. That train is kind of a novelty tourist train and I'm not sure you can make an assumption all trains in Thailand will allow dogs. It may also have a lot to do with length of trip. I doubt they would allow a dog on a 12 hour trip, but I don't know. Maybe they would just want him/her in a dog carrier for long trips.

Have your partner call the train station/office.

Here's a thread from 2010

Found this on this website:

Dogs are not allowed on public transport although dogs can be carried on trains in non-air-conditioned carriages.

I had bring my poodle toy of few months old on a return trips from bkk to buri ram few years back,no problem at all.

On the trip there I got a sleeping ticket and return I got a normal ticket.

He was in a carrying bag I got for him and prepared enough food and drink as I don't give him streets food, only dog food.

He is free to follow me on both trips without extra charges.

From hua lampoon to kasang.

Will she have any luggage ?

She is the luggage and should be kept in the luggage van.

Dogs have no place on public transport unless they are licensed guide / service dogs.

I think that about Kids on Airlines. Sooner sit by the O.P.s Poodle.

what's worse .. ? sitting next to two kids screaming then spilling their drink down the seat and falling over you was he wipes his nose fluids over your shoulder while getting his balance .... or a poodle ?

I think the poodle ...

Our little poodle is a bundle of fun and joy and anybody who would prefer to sit next to 2 screaming kids... is obviously a masochist!

Anyhow, thanks for your replies, we'll call in before we travel, just to be safe.
