PHUKET: Police are currently looking for a man who was caught on CCTV smashing a windscreen of a parked Toyota Yaris with a rock in Pa Khlok last night (July 23). Police believe it could have been due to a fit of jealousy.

At 10:40pm yesterday, Thalang police received a call from the owner of the Toyota, Mathira Nuntimaruj, 32, who said that a man had thrown a hugh rock at her Toyota Yaris which was parked in front of a commercial close to the Baan Bangla market in pa Khlok.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found the Toyota which was parked in front of the Milada Glitters shop. Ms Mathira and her boyfriend were there waiting for them.

Police found the rock used to smash the windscreen close to the car.

Ms Mathira showed police the CCTV footage which showed a man wearing a grey T-shirt with English lettering on the front and Bermuda shorts ride up on a black Yamaha Mio motorbike, registration number unknown, and park behind the vehicle.

He then walked up to the front of the vehicle and threw the rock at the windscreen before speeding away on his motorbike.

Police were able to clearly see the manʼs facial features from the footage.

Ms Mathira said she was upstairs on the third floor of the building when she heard a loud bang so she went downstairs to check. This is when she found her vehicle with the smashed windscreen.

“I called the police straight away and checked the CCTV. This clearly showed the perpetrator in action.

“I have never seen this man before and do not know why he would throw a rock at my car,” she said.

Police believe one possibilty is that the man may have found Ms Mathira attractive and was possibly upset that she has never paid any attention to him.

“We will find the man and bring him in for questioning,” said Lt Suporn Muangkhai from Thalang police.

A Thai family parked outside a restaurant and were told not by a minivan driver that they are not allowed to park there, that it's his spot.

They came back and the bonnet (hood, for you merkins) and windscreen had been smashed with a rock.

Ditto in Pattaya. I parked on 2nd Road near Motor cycle taxi drivers. Drove off about 30 minutes later to find a nail in a piece of wood jammed in my tyre. Jealousy? Possessiveness? Xenophobia? Adolescence? All symptoms of Thainess.
