Hi guys and girls,

I am 28 year old Australian businessman wanting to spend around 3 months in thailand. I have been there maybe 5 times before, and 3 times last year on a 30 day tourist visa.

I get so many conflicting stories on how to go about this 60-90 stay i want to have over there, starting in the next month.

what is my best way to go about this?

what even is a 'business visa (90 Day) and how do i qualify for this?

also, is the THB at 25/1AUD doing any real damage over there? haha

All that is needed is a single entry tourist visa which will provide an initial 60 day entry and which can be extended for another 30 days at a cost of 1900 Bht at an immigration office.

There are no 30 day tourist visas . What were given at the airport was a 30 day visa exempt entry.You should apply for a Visa at the Thai embassy or one of the Thai consulates prior to leaving Australia.

You could get a single entry tourist visa that would give a you a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

It is issued as a non-ba visa that gives a one year entry. No work permit is needed.

They do not and never did.

Very few Russians to be found since the Rouble crashed.

Hi you can get two 60 days tourists visa at a cost $90 dollars you just have to go out of thailand after the 60 days and come back in not that hard to do and if you want to you can stay on if you like thailand get away from the tourists places and go north of thailand you will like it a lot more cheers all the best

If you're not in Brisbane you can do it through them by mail; my favourite consulate in Australia as they're generous with the enter by dates and are efficient in processing the application.

As others have said: apply for 60 day single entry tourist visa, then get it extended when you're in Thailand for 30 days; 1900 baht, TM7, passport photo and copies from your passport.

Unlike some advice you've gotten here, you don't have to leave the country after 60 days at all.

It should not be any problem to get the visa.

i know you are the 'one who knows' when it comes to visa questions, but: getting my visa by mail from the sydney consulat is something that i have never been able to do. to my knowledge one has to front up to lodge one's application.

you can supply a self addressed and pre - paid envelope for your passport to be sent back to you but even that meets 'passive' resistance from staff.

yes, mail sydney, trust 'ubonjoe', he knows more about this than anyone else. i probably talked to the wrong people - not that i had much chance to do different.

You can mail it to Sydney or to the embassy in Canberra..

There is no requirement for a return/onward ticket if a valid visa is obtained prior to departure.

It was a honorary consulate not an embassy. It has been closed since February.

Brisbane HAD a Honorary Thai Consulate which is now closed and has been closed for 6-7 months !

60 day tourist visa, with 30 extension is easiest... Canberra Thai Embassy, does it in around a week... just make sure you have required paper work..

It's a program whereas based on where you're from you can get employment in specific countries as part of a working visa, there's a list of countries that participate in this. There are many from Ireland, France and Spain that work where I'm at. Before anyone gets any ideas lol, there's an age cutoff and I'd bet a large sum that thailand does not participate in this.

Thai Consulate has been closed for at least 6 months. Everything done in Canberra now. Good luck.
