How many Thai ladies are married to foreigners ? Has to be a huge number... What would it take to get these wifes to sign a petition, asking for the government to change the rules for husbands/fathers to be able to stay with their families on a more permanent basis ?

Surely if 200 turned up on the steps with a petition signed by 1000s, they would have to at least consider some changes !!

Just a thought....

Yes perhaps but how should that be organized? Expats are shattered all over the country.

I agree that people living here with a family/kids should have it much more easy Visa wise, something like a 5 year visa.

Very good idea. Howver TVs finest couldn't organise a root in a brothel.

Do a search of the site and look for the failed and miserable history of 'expat associations'.

I'm not sure how it could be organised but online petitions are doable.. Each member on here alone must know at least 5-10 other people in the same situation, networks spread very wide.

Surely we are entitled to a normal family existence, not living year to year with no certainty ?

Not interested in land ownership rights or taking jobs from locals...

I counted 1,428,888 Thai women married to farang as of August 8, 2015 - but since I'm still a nobody - that number won't be entered into evidence.sad.png

This must be a joke. But at the risk of this being a serious question, the OP should realize that there are always unintended consequences. For instance, allow me to offer just two words: "sham marriages."

i agree with the face book page,

we know it gets read by officials as some one has just gone to prison for slander towards the king,

facebook the way to go

berkshire,,

they would be able to tell a sham marridge when they came to visit you,

or make it that you have to be married a certain length of time

Why?

I agree with Berkshire.

The rules were well known before you got married.

Simply changing the "staying in Thailand" rules just because you got married opens the door to sham marriages that are really good for no-one, and undermine the value of "real" marriages.

5) You will not use Thaivisa as a platform to gather support to effect changes on religious, political, or governmental issues.
