Shade Balls...?

A Facebook friend just shared this video, which looks like one of the many “waste-of-time” fun or weird videos that are often shared – but it appeared not to be:

I always Google strange stories to check background or reliable sources, and the first results for “Shade balls” was from ABC (today):

“Shade Balls” seem to be able to preserve water in reservoirs during drought, so after reading all the news updates in ThaiVisa about farmers water problems, perhaps something worth to consider in Thailand, probably both for small and large scale.
