Did he confirm that the artist's perception looks anything like him?

Was he asked or did they make an offer for more info as the original was for him to drop in. He is a Tuk Tuk driver after all.

If they really wanted to catch these terrorist then they would have asked and/or accepted help from Western intelligence agencies that have more experience and expertise.

Thats funny. Good one..

Look ma I'm on TV!

My experience of Tuk-Tuk drivers is they are unable to find / identify most of the major landmarks in Bangkok - preferring instead to take you to their brother-in-law's shop........this kind of behaviour doesn't really inspire confidence in these people as witnesses - let's hope this guy is an exception.

or at least let hime enjoy being famous for 15 minutes

There's a shop in that Soi that sells only second-hand steel pipes. I once had a need for about 2 metres length of 8" internal diameter, 5-8 mm thickness steel pipe, and found it in that shop. As far as know, there are not too many shops specialised in selling used steel pipes. The police might want to investigate whether the that shop has recently sold any steel pipe of the type and size used in the bombs.

And they sell it in suitably cut rucksack suitable lengths already sealed at the ends?

Did the tuk-tuk driver say "Royal Palace closed today"?
Interesting .Did this TUK TUK Devil give him the usual grilling ,i.e, Where you come from ? You want tour ? You want lady /massage etc .?

To quote a few....

Its amazing that there are those who can make light of this extremely serious event that took innocent lives along with ridiculing the police and security services that are working to apprehend the scum who carried out this attack on innocent victims.

Try thinking before posting, it could have been any of us or our loved ones!

Exactly. I was at a meeting on that spot Friday, and less than a kilometer away at the time of the explosion. The day of the second bomb at the bridge, my wife was on the way home, scheduled to cross it.

This is why sometimes I light up and really get disgusted by what i read here. I lost friends at the World Trade Center - 9/11, I am from Boston, and we had the marathon bombing, I live in Bangkok, and know 6 wonderful people who work in Amarin Plaza and could have easily been hurt or killed that day.

There seems to be no lower limit to what people will say on this forum, and let me say .. the more I read .. the less interested i become in meeting Foreigners .. and frankly, by that .. I mean Farang .. since so many are .. let's call it what it is .. racists.

So to the very same people who post this heartless "humor" and drivel, then complain that Farang in Bangkok are "snobs", "anti-social" , do not "even nod or smile" .. etc .. now you know why.

Until I see you being respectful and open with Thai people .. you are on the "No thank you, I do not want to hear your "Thai Rant"" list

It is duly noted that you are unhappy, and for your own reasons, feel stuck in Thailand and stay. We, the happy Expats really are sorry you are not happy. Really. That being said, may we respectfully request that you keep your bitching and moaning down a bit, and reserve your "humor" for events that do not include mayhem, massacre, dozens of innocent lives lost, hundreds more destroyed, families forever ruined?

You see ladies, your racist slip is showing (again) ... we all know that you were relieved to see that list of the dead had no "Smith or Jones" on it .. had there been, you would be threatening anyone who made these tasteless jokes with "lead poisoning"

Such A Holes, such an embarrassment for the Farang who live and work in the Kingdom, and have Thai friends who know what you all are.

As the Thai say, "I invite you to my home, and you S+++ on the roof" It is laughable that many Foreigners beleive that the Kingdom would come to a screeching halt if, God Forbid, your pension check did not arrive and end up in the till at the corner pub. "Amazing Farang" .. really.

Amazing how laziness goes out the door when some cash is waived around. This despite holding possibly crucial evidence that can catch this madman.

I think it's more indicative of the deep mistrust and dislike people have for police, as well as being aware of their incompetence.

Also note that the two guys (tour guide) only stepped forward when they were actually marked as suspects, but would very likely have preferred to just lay low and not get involved.

Nobody in their right mind wants to have anything to do with police unless it's completely unavoidable. Clueless, incompetent, corrupt and can turn into scapegoat-hunting mode at any time.

I'm not surprised at all.

Not to mention if you have any PTP or red group sympathies -- the attempts to lay the blame at the feet of those groups by the government ... even without evidence or any investigation.... would make you warey of coming forward and had any connection to them however innocent since you might be made a scapegoat.

Misinformation hurts the investigation, investigators should investigate and not comment. The government should not speculate, but only to reassure that the investigation is ongoing.... only once the investigation has completed do you release the details.... There is a reason why Singapore, Japanese European, North American police forces don't release details of an ongoing investigation ... it opens up the police to being tainted with their own speculations, biases and who they want it to be for political reasons rather than reality.

Western Intel has been helping since day 1

Excellent. Lets hope he can provide some better info about his accent, his appearance and basically anything else.

Unfortunately it has been my experience that the average Thai person cannot distinguish foreigner's accents...they couldnt tell the difference between an American accent and a French one.

I often get looks from my wife when I tell her what country a person is from just by hearing them speak....she thinks I'm some sort of magician that can tell this without knowing the person.

Are you for real........"If they really wanted to catch these terrorist" what kind of stupid idiotic statement is that to make......Of course they want to catch them.

Incidentally they are already working with various agencies including Interpol.

Maybe the reason the taxi driver did not come forward straight away is because he knows go to the police you will be in the station for a very Long time answering questions and lose income.

This is a sterling example of why Thai Visa is both a blessing and a curse.

(1) We have an Expat with unique, interesting and important information .. willing to take the time to share it. (Thank you)

(2) Then, his "thanks" is a completely stupid comment ... that actually makes no sense, but whose feeble attempt to be clever is clear.

What this means is, the rest of us, who live, work, have friends, family and peers in BKK, looking for answers have to wade through page after page of absolute drivel, to extract a few pearls that are interesting.

Unlike Jacko45, i have a very strong working knowledge of what this important fact / clue means .. it really was a "wow" .. they are getting closer and closer to finding the people who did this' moment.

I really beleive that long ago, some really smart and motivated people thought "let's build an online Expat community that is supportive, shares knowledge and makes living in the Kingdom better. I really wonder if they ever intended for it to be the daily puke fest it has become.

Like so many things in life, it only takes a few "J offs' to answer the question "Why can't we have nice things?"

The other taxi driver at the rank said he looked calm, maybe he doesn't remember exactly how to describe the guy

On any given day in central bkk you might see 500 random people, how many could you remember in detail if asked a few days later?

Posted (edited)

How the hell can he not see the guy? Did the guy put on a helmet? Did he pay him?

How many people a day do you think a driver carries?

Back in the day, I drove taxi and also was a waiter.

Unless you were "fit and firm' in a short skirt, you were just part of the blur of life.

Oh, did I mention that the rider sits BEHIND the driver?

The miracle is, he even remembered taking this fare at all, and probably because he was wearing yellow on a Friday, and on a special Friday .. where Blue would have been the correct choice I beleive.

OK, Losworld, you got your posting and a reply ... run along now.

looks like the others handed themselves in too..

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-34007723

Notice how the BBC puts together a timeline of events, with the available photos of the suspect, and an explanatory graphic of the shrine site to try to make some sense out of the information.

While the Thai media just parrots the latest utterances of Police and Government officials.

Yeah, I guess I'm among the "Thai Bashers" at the moment; although it is simply out of frustration, and directed mostly at the media and the popinjays in uniform.

You mean something like this?

So where did you think the BBC get those pics and info from 7-Eleven store? They got it from the police!

Well said.

It may not be laziness.

It may be fear.

Depending on who is behind this, witnesses may fear retaliation.

Chances are this is not a "lone gunman" kind of thing.

A numerous different "organizations" could be behind it.

Young idealistic fools can be convinced to do many things.

In fact, there is a good chance the perp is actually dead and disposed of already.

He may never be found alive or at all.

Smart criminals cover their tracks.

and this is Thailand.

Quite often it's found that where a taxi picked someone up is very near where they are living or staying. I simply can't recall but perhaps others can a notorious American killer that was traced back this way - to his neighborhood. This could be important info.

There's also the motorcycle taxi that took him away after he apparently left the backpack. Where is that guy? Where did he take him?

If you really want to know for <deleted>sake, read the reportscoffee1.gif

How it can take a key witness in a case that is all over social and mainstream media, one of the biggest crime cases in Bkk history, 4 days until he finally decides to step forward??? That idiotic Tuk Tuk driver should be forced to swallow the bloody 30.000 Baht in 20 Baht notes without water. Stupid idiot he is!!!!! A tea spoon of salt with every 20 Baht note on top of it. Would punch that moron in his face if he'd be standing in front of me!

That's a good point, the article says: Information from police did not indicate the man speaking to Suchart. Rumors regarding what language he might have been heard speaking have shared widely, but no confirmed information has come to light.

I find very unlikely the tri-cicle driver did not speak to the man.

My years-in-Thailand, cynical mind instantly concocted this scenario:

Tuk tuk driver comes forward immediately after the blast, speaking to the first cop he sees, .. the cop, being a seasoned opportunist, ...

Cop: "Shut up for now. There will surely be a reward if we wait."

Tuk tuk driver: "We?"

Cop: " Yes. When you get it, we split it. OK?"

Most annoying BS I have read since the blast. To go through those considerations listed above, brain mass would be required - something obviously absent with this or any other tuk tuk driver who are out for only one thing - bleed the passenger to the best of your ability and try to sell him some "extra services" to make a good commission. That he came forward exactly AFTER cash has been waived with says it all!

Australian TV News is reporting the RED SHIRTS are responsible for the bombing.

I agree.

The Bomber is most likely back in Dubai by now.

Well it was quite obvious when the red shirt guy posted the warning days before the bombing even giving the date window of the bombing
