Disused water tanks

Featured Replies

Regards to land my wife and I purchased to build a

house on the property has some old concrete water

containers at one side of the land which have not been

used for over 35 years, the owner said we could

demolish them but when it came to knock them down my

wife says we can't ?

Can you advise me who to get in touch with regards this

matter as they restrict me from finishing my fence line

and are an eye sore to the property.

You will need to get your wife on-side first, she obviously believes there is some reason you can't remove these tanks.

Who owns the tanks?

If it's the neighbour, get written permission to remove them from your land (assuming they're on your land), and bulldoze away.

I think she asked the village elder and he was supposed to ask the authority's ?

Only 3 tanks on our land.

But the roof hangs also over the 3 tanks on your land. Talk to the neighbour and tell him your plans. Then just do it and make the roof smaller for him.

As they're on both sides of the fence and the village elder is going to ask the authorities I'd hazard a guess and say they are or were part of the village water supply.

I've seen similar set ups in upcountry villages.

Actually from photo it appears this may be community property and not owned by poster or neighbor - looks as if it is storage for private village and likely land belongs to village/government.

The OP really needs to find out who owns these tanks.

Removing these tanks from the property will not be the issue, but damaging or rendering this installation unusable can cause problems.

As said, best to get (written) permission from the owner of the tanks that they can be demolished. Or even better get the owner to remove them. If the owner cannot be found, the OP needs to give adequate notice the community of his intention of demolishing.

If you cannot remove them then (as a suggestion )

  • Paint them up
  • Grow some vines over them
  • Build some screens around them
  • Cut a door in them and use as a store room , garden shed
  • Use them as above ground missile silos

Fence around them in place. They and the roof appear to be providing shade you are strategically parking the car within. Water appears to be scarce these days and they may become useful again.

Should've been sorted before land purchased & property built

No point in complaining now.

Why didn't op sort this before he parted with his money

It never ceases to amaze me what people do in Thailand

Ridiculous
