Can you afford an $60 ticket to hanoi, vietnam?

English teaching jobs are quite plentiful over there, actually they are desperate. Gigs start at $20 / hr usd and rise from there.
The visa is also much, much easier...

This what id do in your situation.

Your probably looking at:

bkk - han on air asia - $60

visa - $120

monthly place while you look for work $250 (factor in a deposit, depending $250; tay ho lake has some great affordable apt's. Nice location, safe, other expats etc).

spending money for a month looking for work $200 +

once you get a gig you can "go native" and just bank what you earn

if you look in the paper there are all kinds of ads for teachers. a month is more then enough time to get something.

the back due rent in thailand? forget it, come back and pay it when you can (with a smile of course).

so your looking at roughly 1k usd to do it safely

but if your skint, might as well just do it now.

This depresses me.

No wonder countries tighten regulations eh?

it's booming over there now. new apartments being built everywhere. more of a younger crowd though with jobs, not the typical retired older guys.

may be something you want to check out if your on short term visas, or if you need a change of scene. coffee is great too.
