PM concluded his visit to the Philippines

MANILA, 28 August 2015 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has expressed his satisfaction during his official visit to the Philippines, with both countries standing ready to extend cooperation for mutual benefit.

The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has concluded his official visit to the Philippines on 27-28 August 2015, as invited by President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III.

He has said that he is satisfied with his visit, and has expressed his gratitude to the Philippines government which provided a warm welcome, and thus helped tighten the relations of both countries in many aspects, particularly at the verge of ASEAN Community’s integration where trade and investment cooperation are encouraged. He said both sides have agreed to provide mutual encouragement at the bilateral level.

The Thai PM has also extended an invitation to Philippines' private sector to expand their investments in Thailand, especially in the Special Economic Zones at Thailand border areas, and has proposed both countries to provide consular support, take care of workers from both countries, and hold consecutive meetings to further push forward cooperation, which will improve the living quality of the people.

The Prime Minister has also taken this opportunity to explain the Thai government’s intention to reform the nation, under the 5-year vision to create a stable country where the people have sustainable prosperity. He assured that the government’s road map will create a solid foundation for the nation’s democracy, prior to the general election which is expected to be held in 2015.

He has said that Thailand has now achieved stability and security, and President of the Philippines possesses a good understanding on this matter.

General Teerachai Narkvanich was appointed the new commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army.
The royal command appointing him the 39th army chief was announced Friday night.
Gen Preecha Chan-o-cha, the assistant army chief, was appointed permanent secretary of the Defense Ministry.
