Marvo Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Hmmm, this price difference, depending on departure airport is getting a little silly! Emirates: BHX > BKK: ₤480 RTN BKK > BHX: ฿52,840 RTN (=₤960)
baboon Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Flying from Thailand to the UK is always more expensive. I remember a quote from Mrats of £525 return from Newcastle, the same flights on the same dates in the opposite direction were 51,000 Baht. It's a racket, but what do you do? Try to avoid their B777 economy class. A truly horrendous flying experience.
KhunBENQ Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) The question is asked often. I haven't seen a satisfactory answer, Maybe there is simply no hard competition in this direction, volume too low. Testing the limits (how high can we go). Given up. The only good development are the low cost carriers coming to the market. Norwegian Air and Eurowings (in the winter season) have some competitive prices. Even if you don't use them they might stimulate competition. Edited August 29, 2015 by KhunBENQ

steve187 Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) It is strange that the same journey in reverse is so much more expensive , maybe demand and competition keeps flights originating in uk cheaper but the same dates bkk/bhx/bkk are £641 with Lufthansa, so not so much difference, more searching has to be done for a cheap flight originating in bkk, but as said its a rip off by the airlines. do bkk/lhr/bkk for same dates for £483 - http://www.skyscanner.net/transport/flights/bkk/lhr/160405/160423/airfares-from-bangkok-suvarnabhumi-to-london-heathrow-in-april-2016.html?adults=1&children=0&infants=0&cabinclass=economy&rtn=1&preferdirects=false&outboundaltsenabled=false&inboundaltsenabled=false Edited August 29, 2015 by steve187
stoneyboy Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) The bottom line is there are more flight options departing the UK and more airports to depart from. Also the demand is generally greater as more people from the UK holiday in Thailand than the other way around due to visa restrictions and a lack of funds, what percentage of Thai people have ever stepped foot on an aeroplane for example. That's Etihad off the list too in that case. 3-4-3 is the absolute pits. Edited August 29, 2015 by baboon
