Go the other direction a little and try Soi 18 and 20. Plenty there.

Opposite robinsons at asok is soi 14, a small seemingky dead soi...get in there and turn right after 10m....2-3 nice places there always bustling with thai office crowd.

Soi 14 is right at Asoke BTS, sounds good.

Right on corner of Soi 15 is a very popular old school Chinese-Thai joint that sells roasted duck and pork over rice and other dishes. Or, go down below Robinson to find a food court (it's more quiet and a bit more expensive than the food court at T21).

Afternoon/early evening, there is lady that does khao gaeng on corner of Soi 10 ... she sells until her food runs out (which used to be pretty early).
