BANGKOK: -- A male foreigner who was suspected to be the yellow-shirted bomber responsible for the deadly bombing at the Erawan Shrine on August 17 was arrested by Thai security forces near the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaew province Tuesday.

The suspect whose identity is yet to be identified was believed to be trying to cross the border into Cambodia when he was stopped by Thai border forces and later brought to the Burapha task force.

Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda, the deputy national police chief, flew to Sa Kaew province in a police helicopter reportedly to escort the suspect back to Bangkok for interrogation.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha confirmed to the media of the detention of the Body: The suspected bomber.

Meanwhile, Nonthaburi provincial court on Tuesday issued warrants for the arrest of three more suspects wanted in connection with the bombing incidents at Ratchaprasong intersection and at Sathorn pier on August 17 and August 18 respectively.

The three suspects were identified as Ali Jolan, a Turkish; Ahmed Bosonglan, a Turkish and another unnamed Turkish.

Strange because i just read international press.... Cambodian Police captured this man and hand him over to Thai Police....

Will there be more reward money for police doing their jobs catching this guy or has that already been all used?

Somyat should give a few more million baht of his personal money for this arrest. But the arresting police were Cambodians so the position will probably be "F" em.

Yes, BP reports that he was captured in Poipet Monday, handed over today

If this is the bomber then the soldiers should get the 3 million Baht reward. The reward was for capturing the bomber not his associates. Can you see the police giving it back to be forwarded onto the soldiers?

Why blank out the face?

The police don't want to embarrass themselves, again, if "it's not the guy"laugh.png They're a bit late, his uncensored pic is all over the net.

well the fact that they caught a guy in another country adds some credibility to the capture

if it was a scapegoat type of deal, i think the Thai police would just pick an easier target, one that is inside the country and probably only 5 minutes from them

(less time for them to travel :)

Until one sifts through the barrage of false information from the Thai authority's, I can only conclude that being Turkish isn't a great idea at the moment. coffee1.gif

Wot a joke!!!! Keystone Cops at their best!!!

What do you mean? What is a joke and why?

Why blank out the face?

Not blanked out in other news reports, however this side profile pic (the unblanked one) of the man looks 100% like the CCTV images of the bomber.

According to another posters link to the Phnom Phen Post and articles in the BK post this man was arrested in Cambodia possibly at the airport in Phnom Phen.

A joint effort between Thai and Cambodian authorities after this man slipped into Cambodia at the said crossing.

This crossing is well known to Cambodian and Thai and many articles are published over corruption by border police and Uighurs.

It seems that this crossing is used by Uighurs to enter Thailand and obtain false passports to go on to Turkey.

According to the Phnom Phen post a retired Thai policeman was caught trying to smuggle Uighurs in his pick up a while back.

It is also reported that Uighurs were mistreated and Jailed and tortured and deported to China from this port, after which Chinese officials visited Cambodia and signed contracts and loans to Cambodia.

The man had quite a lot of luggage with him and a Chinese passport from the Chinese Uighur community area ,he was attempting to travel to turkey.

Thai police have taken selfies of the mans luggage with no regard to preserving forensic evidence.

Lots of misinformation going on from Thai authorities who it now looks like new about the people smuggling from this port, and are indirectly responsable for a revenge attack by deporting Uighurs to China who were probably executed.

How else do you interpret Thai police as saying this was not a terrorist attack just revenge?

This man was arrested by Cambodians and handed over to Thai and then arrested at the border crossing.

Did they Share Thaksins son's reward money?

PS have a read of the Phnom Phen Press, a intersting article about the arrest and deporting from Cambodia of Uighers 2009 in which a man named as Yussuf texted a news person while being held by Cambodian authorities before being deported to China, some were executed and som got 5 years 9+5 = 14 could some of these men have been released and got back into LOS because they sure had big chips on their shoulders.

So how much lost face about who arrested who and who helped themselves to the reward??

All I wants to know now is when the movie's coming out.

Yes, BP reports that he was captured in Poipet Monday, handed over today

I also read in the western press that this guy bribed a Thai immigration official to exit Thailand into Cambodia.

  • 2 weeks later...

The immigration officers should be jailed for dereliction of duty and aiding bombers and human trafficking. Not simply transfered. They have put at all at risk because of their greed for money. Thainess
