More rains expected this week in Central, Eastern and Southern regions



BANGKOK: -- The Meteorological Department today issued a warning of increased rains in the country's central, eastern and southern regions this week following the escalation of the depression into a tropical storm.

It said the depression which is flowing over central South China Sea has intensified to tropical storm “Vamco” with its centre now about 350 kilometres off Danang.

The wind speed in its centre is 65 kilometres per hour and is moving westerly towards the Vietnamese coast at 12 kilometres an hour.

The tropical storm is expected to land on shore at central Vietnam during September 15-16 and will affect Thailand on September 16-17.

It advised people travelling to central Vietnam to monitor weather updates closely.

Meanwhile it said the prevailing monsoon trough lying across the North, upper Central and lower Northeast and coupling with moderate monsoon over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand, will result in more rains in the Central region, the East and the South.

Waves were expected to be about 2 metres high in the upper Andaman Sea, it added.

Tropical Storm Vamco in Vietnam could flood Thailand

BANGKOK, 14 September 2015 (NNT) - People expecting to travel to central Vietnam are urged to consult the weather forecast first, as Tropical Storm Vamco will soon make landfall in Vietnam.

According to the Meteorological Department, a tropical depression in the Southern China Sea is becoming Tropical Storm Vamco as it grows larger. It is expected to reach Vietnam tomorrow.

Thailand will also be affected by the arrival of the tropical storm. A monsoon trough which is moving across the North, upper Central Plains and lower Northeast of Thailand will bring rain to central and eastern provinces.

A southwesterly wind in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will continue to cause wet and inclement weather conditions in the South. Waves in the Andaman Sea could reach the maximum height of two meters.

I suppose they'll consider cleaning out the drains once it passes and floods.

The problem with a storm like this is not the storm itself BUT the fact that most of the ground may be so hard it will not sink into the earth but just run over the to or cause mudslides.

As usual places like Asoke and other areas should make sue they have ruber boots at the ready and ladies carry the 4 inch heels

Could flood Thailand ? Damn ! There was I thinking I was safe a 1000k north of the Andaman sea.

Ah, you've got to be tough to survive in Thailand.

The "Black Death" would be preferable. At least you know when you have it, it does not discriminate, treatment is fast and efficient , after a short course of treatment you are cured forever.
