Dear fellow members

I know of a foundation on the lookout for small community based initiatives in Thailand that empower local people to live independent lives.

The areas that they support are diverse and it is more about where the urgent need exists such as education, health care, child care, emergency aid etc.

The approach of this foundation is working in partnership with local community organisations that carry out the project based on their knowledge of the issues at hand, local language and have the expertise to run the initiative. The foundation helps with the various resources required, closely monitors the progress and offers support.

Any suggestions for initiatives in need will be greatly appreciated.

Please note that the foundation carries out a thorough investigation of the project at hand to check if their criteria are met and do not simply hand over the funds.

Thai Visa administration approved you asking for initiatives?

I've read an organization that distributes wheelchairs tot he needy. He has to deal with lots of red tape. The Thai Government is there every step in of the way. http://www.assistdisabled.org/

They might also look at some of the organizations in Mai sot that deal with the Burmese refuge camps.
