Places to find Southern Thai food in Pattaya?

Featured Replies

OK JT. For the first one - from Jomtien Beach go up Chaiyapruek 1 to Suk. ( I dont think Song Tows use that route but you will know better than anyone about that.) Cross over to Chaiyapruek 2 walk 300 metres up there and on the right you will see the restaurant that is in the picture. For the other one go up Chaiyapruek I and turn left on Suk. Go down there until you see the Avis rent a car sign. This is about 500-600 metres from Tesco south turn in ) .

I forgot to add the one on Jomtien Beach is called Khun### - forgot the name but is near to the night market on the beach. Have not been ther recently as the owners have changed.

Thanks for being helpful. Sorry if I have annoyed you.

You give links and say these places might be near these points.

With only Thai signage and imprecise directions, it would really easy to go on a wild goose chase and never find the places.

I'm looking for confirmation from people who have actually been to these places.

Anyway, I think maybe I finally get the map directions, didn't before.

I wasn't asking for street addresses per se but locations of CROSS STREETS.

For the one on the dark side, this really looks far to walk but I got this location now:

Chaiyaphruek 2 road going away from Sukhumwit

east of Sukhumwit-Phatthaya 89

west of Tongklom Talman 8

Oops, now I read on the original description it's before the railway crossing and what I saw on the map was after the railway crossing.

1) I'm not annoyed. I deal with idiots every day and it takes far more than that to annoy me (no slur intended).

2) I have no idea where these places actually are: I based my findings on the descriptions and what can be seen in the (old) photos on Street View. But I'm fairly sure that I found the right places.

3) As Andreas2 points out, Google maps does not seem to work properly when using the balloon pointer. So I suggest doing it the way I described and use the little box at the bottom left. This does work properly.

4) The street view image I linked to for the dark side location is definitely way before the railway line. You may not have noticed but you can drag the image around and change the viewpoint, and also "walk" along the entire length of all the roads until you find something you recognise. I find it very useful to check out places that I might be interested in visiting and on many occasions I then decide I can just stay at home instead! Always bear in mind that the photos are 3 years old or more.

For the other one go up Chaiyapruek I and turn left on Suk. Go down there until you see the Avis rent a car sign. This is about 500-600 metres from Tesco south turn in ) .

Ah. In that case my street view link was about 100m out. This one is right: https://goo.gl/maps/heotnpFwZeH2

Actually completely off topic but maybe still helpful for some with a similar technical problem of switching from Google Street View to Map View.

It's a simple Copy / Paste solution but as uploaded pictures are quite massively size- and quality reduced I have to attach the instructions as a PDF file. I know, it's a pain in the neck to be forced to download a document before being able to decide if it's useful or not, sorry.

PS: If it is possible to upload pictures without quality loss, please let me know.

Chaiyapreuk 2 Road. Turn left off south-bound Sukhumwit and head towards the Sports stadium. About half way between Suk and the railway crossing, there's a small road that goes off to the right (just after the PEA office on the left). The restaurant on the east corner of that junction is a Southern specialist. Went there with the Mrs once and had my head blown off. She loved it even though she's Isaan, I'm not going back!!

Agree - this was the place I was going to suggest, and the phrase I was going to use was "blew my bloomin head off" ....

Thanks again for all the clues and tips.

It may take me awhile to try some of these places, but I intend to get around to it.

Cheers.

I like southern thai food. Kau King Pak sod is very famous in BKK. I am not sure you mean the one in Thonglor, if so that one is very famous.

In Pattaya I like 4 southern food.

1. KHUN PAN at Chaiyaprek 2, same as someone suggest above. Said to let you know that this one just change the owner about 6-7 months and the food are not same before. not good as before.

2. KHUN LEK on third road, It is small shop, locate on the left if you come from south to middle pattaya. hard to find but it is nearly opposite of DOG ENJOY, the pet shop. post-224270-0-22607700-1443020291_thumb.

3. Kon Korn, on North pattaya, this one is near Pattaya city hall. If you come by bath bus, you better go to BIG C north pattaya. Then you walk direct to the back of BIG C. If you know DIFFER Disco. Kon Korn are on the back of Differ. You can walk to the back street of Big c (petchtakool street) the go to another soi. you can find map on facebook.
