Water supply in the affected area will be shut off daily until next Wednesday (Sept 30).

PHUKET: -- Water supply to homes and businesses from Baan Sapam School to Bang Khu Intersection were shut off today (Sept 23) as waterworks teams started moving supply pipes away from the site of the new underpass to be excavated at the busy junction.

The Phuket office of the Provincial Waterworks Authority issued a formal notice announcing the shut-off yesterday.

In line with the notice, water supply was shut off in the affected areas from 9am to 5pm today.

The disruptions will continue from 9am to 5pm each day through to Wednesday next week (Sept 30), said the notice.

The pre-emptive move to relocate the water mains at the Bang Khu Intersection is likely aimed at avoiding months-long delay in building the underpass at the site.

Progress on building the Sam Kong Underpass in front of Tesco Lotus on the bypass road was delayed at least two months after workers unexpectedly came across drains while excavating there.

The PWA urges any persons with enquiries about the water shutoffs and pipe-relocation project at Bang Khu to call the PWA at 076-319173, during office hours.
