Ten rescued from teetering Phuket yacht

PHUKET: Phuket Marine Police helped dislodge a yacht stranded on a submerged rock outcropping off Koh Nai Nui yesterday afternoon, following the rescue of ten people from the boat.

"The boat, Pim Praw, might have just settled onto the rock as the tide went out," Phuket Marine Police Chief Panya Chaichana told Phuket Gazette. "We were called to the scene to assist, after the two crew and eight passengers were already safely removed from the yacht. When the water level began to rise, we were able to pull the boat free with a speedboat."

This yacht looks as if it would have plotting GPS, and underwater imaging for depth. Hard to see how a competent skipper paying attention could have grounded it thus!
