However, I do acknowledge that many, many of them were only driving/herding buffalo barely 10 years ago.

I'm trying not to, but this guy just tried to run into me in his New Range Rover, on Soi Farang in Udon,but Tesco in Nong Khai, They are out of Control,always big SUV'S and will run u over or merge without a care in the World,I'm a Hater,Now these are Lao Elite, I believe

Re. driving.............Can they be any worse than the Thais? You must be on full alert at all times cos they could get you - any place. any time. Thailand is # 2 in the World for road fatalities......Probably # 1 because, apparently, only those that die at the scene are counted in the statistics.

No need to insult every Laotian. Ten years ago they were driving. These guys are the new rich and think they are above the law. Actually not much different than other rich people from other countries.

I think its just because they have yellow number plates that you notice them more. But I agree there are a fair few Lao drivers who could be a bit more considerate when they drive/park. That said we could all probably use that advice from time to time.

What I notice is that they arrive at the Asawann shopping here in Nong Khai and seem to buy 50,000 nappies. Or 50,000 bottle of water. Or 50,000 plastic buckets. Or 50,000 of something.

I'm pretty sure its them that's had all the tonic water.

They all seem to be pretty big guys (for Asians) and have trophy wives who like to show off a bit of cleavage. Something very few Thai women do.

If you're able to drive around town in Sisaket for a whole day without an accident then you must be a very good and experienced driver, or you only had good luck.

( And you might need plenty of amulets in your car, protecting you)

Even Ubonjeros know how bad their driving skills are. Please try Sisaket, before you say anything about drivers from Laos.

Having just spent 3 years there I agree with you 100% percent. I will never complain about any driving in Thailand ever again!! It is so peaceful and everyone is so polite, even in Bangkok.

So true, just spent 3 years there, they make Thais look the the politest and most peaceful drivers around. I'll never complain about Thai drivers again!
