Bangkok to host One Young World Summit 2015

Bangkok will host the One Young World Summit 2015 in November, being the first venue in Asia where global young leaders aged 18-20 would share their thoughts for the globe.

To date, summits have taken place in London (2010), Zurich (2011), Pittsburgh (2012), Johannesburg (2013)and Dublin (2014).

The event will take place from November 18 to 21. Joining it would be 1,300 young leaders from all 196 countries who will address solutions to challenges across fields including education, environment, global Business, leadership & government, human rights and peace & security.

Kate Robertson, founder of One Young World, said: "We hope to push the boundaries of what is possible with every One Young World Summit to ensure that we continue to be the premier gathering for young leaders globally. This is a hugely exciting time for One Young World andwe are proud to be takingthe Summit to Asia for the first time. On the eve of the creation of the Asean Economic Community, now is the time to make sure that the voices of the region's youth are heard."

In conjunction with One Young World, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is launching the Social Business Camp initiative to give young Thai nationals the chance to win a place at the Bangkok Summit by submitting their initiatives to affect social change.

I have no doubt the world's young leaders will be most impressed with Thailand's governance, commitment to freedom of speech, and the Internet as a basic human right. They have a lot to learn. Three days of free speech. Just came across this: thailandsfuture.wordpress.com.

Hopefully they will be informed what they are allowed to say before they get here.
