outside of khao san the thai people are quite fun and entertaining but around rambutree and khao san are there is this arragant snobby vibe like its shamefull to even bee seen talkting to a farang unless its to exchange goods and services.

ive made many thai friends and had lots of positive interactions in the area.

if anything, it is the people working there day in and day out that are the least pleasant to interact with. heavily touristic areas will always have an element of jadedness and worn down workers, specially in a place like khaosan road.

its very much the opposite in my opinion as well.

But thats just my experience. Every Thai and every situation is different. You may have just ran into the Thai that didn't want to speak English or just wanted to stay with their Thai buddies.

To be honest, sounds like you are talking about a girl (nobody calls guys snobby). I'm guessing you saw a cute girl and tried to chat her up and she was having none of it. Says more about your game then the Thai girl.
