hot shots club at pornping tower - still open?

Featured Replies

It's been awhile since I've been in CM, heading out in a few weeks. Couldn't tell from a quick search on the web whether the bar is still open - just curious.

Thanks.

d'oh! *smacks self upside the head* - didn't realize there had been a thread on this a week ago. i'll have to peruse or search the forum more often.

anyway thank you. this midnight curfew thing = a bit depressing for those of us who come alive around 11pm or so. looks like i'll be cutting time in CM short this year.

plan on retiring there in about 15 years, hopefully the faux reign of silliness will have concluded by then. take care.

The answer is, dont "come alive" at 11pm. We are advised on here by the sleep zealots that staying up after 10pm makes us very naughty people, and apparently by choosing to live in Chiang Mai we have to accept that we are living in a rural backwater with neither hope or expectation of a late night out!!!!

So given that hotshots (like all Porn Ping venues) are in an on-again, off-again mode of operation, what would be some good alternatives for a Thai style pub with live music, roughly in that area?

My own submission for this would be Tamnaan Folk on Chang Klan road. Which I think is actually a lot better than Hot Shot was (although it did have its nights..)

I ve had good reports before about this place Winnie, but for the life of me cant work out exactly where it is.....can you be our guide? Thanks!

I too don't know where it is but the missus does. She says it's like a mini Tawan Dang. In fact she now prefers it over TD. I'll check with her later today.

There was a mini tawan daeng type place in CM Land... went a few times, friendly, pretty good band, good thai bar grub and cheap beer. Behave yourself in a place like that and you will enjoy but the pickup vibe is very discreet.

It's here, South of Chiang Mai land and the Park hotel on Chang Klan Rd: https://goo.gl/F3GJAk

I always thought that place on the corner of the soi leading to Galare Thong was a dodgy Karaoke bar - and a must to avoid. Always has aggressive black dog outside.

talking about blasts from the past,is salam joy still going had some good nights in there, and the promotion girls, a joy to behold.

It's not the karaoke, it's Tamnan Folk, just inside that soi.

Salam joy ? is this a place then please tell me where i can find it.

Cheers,

I'm trying a different country this year.

I'm sure Chiang Mai will be rid of these sanctimonious twerps eventually.

I agree, about 3 years ago I lived in Galae Thong and this place was an open bar with a dodgy karaoke joint next to it. I only ever had one beer as I didn't like the vibe of the place.

It appears to have had a refurbishment. I'll check with the missus when she gets home.

Yes Tamnaan Folk is on the road that leads into Galae Thong condos. Its not actually on Chang Klan Rd although there is a karaoke place very near by. Its about 2 shops/venues in on the right hand side.

Missus went there last night

I went there a few days ago. Very loud music in a smaller establishment. And no stage show like Tawan Dang.

It wasn't really my cup of tea and I'd rather go to TW if I had to choose.

It's really a Thai venue but I did see 2 other foreigners in there.

Booze prices about the same and at least in either of these joints you won't get ripped off like all the karaoke places down Chang Klan Rd.

Go to changphuak soi 4 you may find some Shot gigglem.gif

Or get shot if you walk in the wrong door.....

Someone should shoot/poison that dog mentioned in Post #15 (because there's no civic recourse for dangerous dog destruction in LOS apparently) it's not the first time it's been complained about here, people have been menaced and attacked.
