Motorcyles on Northern and Eastern Highway 9

Featured Replies

Currently I commute to work in the company van. When we go north from Pakkred on Road 347, we enter Highway 9 and go East. There are no signs stating that motorcycles are not allowed. I see a few motorcycles every once in a while and always they are always parked at the little restuarants on the edge of the road. I was looking to move somewhere in the vicinity of my work, Hitech Industrial Estate (Rd. 32 to Ayutthaya) and wondering which if any parts of Highway 9 motorcycles are allowed. Specifically, Highway 9 from west of the river (PathumThani) to Hitech Industrial Estate and north on Highway 9 starting from Rangsit. I checked with Google maps and there is no sign on the North entrance but a sign saying no motorcyles on the south entrance. I also talked to a Thai friend and he said I can go on Highway 9 from Pathum Thani east to Hitech Industrial Estate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you in advance,

Jeff

We drive that route quite often (MiL lives in Phachi).

Plenty of bikes on both roads, non-toll no frontage roads, no alternative routes. Not seen a no-bikes sign in either direction.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I reckon you could get away with it but you won't get through a toll booth.

There are no tolls on that route, only the 9 on the eastern side of BKK has tolls.

I haven't been along there for 6 weeks.....they have built a toll booth in that time???

Thank you for the confirmation. I have several friends at work that live in Rangsit and travel north but they say they don't see any bikes so I was concerned. I come from the west on Hwy 9 going to Ayutthaya and I see bikes there. So I think no problem.

Thanks again,

Jeff
