Husband arrested for killing wife as a sacrifice to God

SAMUT PRAKARN: -- Samut Prakarn provincial police yesterday arrested a 44-year-old man after he killed his wife as a sacrifice to God.

Police seized numerous books and texts on spiritualism in his room after the claimed spiritual killing was revealed.

According to police, the arrest came after the man, identified as Jessada Chamitra, told his coworkers that he had killed his wife in his room as a sacrifice to deities.

They then went to his room where they found the dead body of Ms Pongjit and reported the matter to the police.

Jessada was later arrested. He admitted to the killing but said he killed her to sacrifice to the ‘Thep Mekharat Goddess’.

Questioning of his relatives revealed that Jessada was always depressed and became interested in spiritualism.

Sometimes he also claimed he was possessed by God and wanted bloods as sacrifices.

His relatives said he had read a lot of books on the matter and had committed the crime believing that the sacrifice of his wife would appease the ‘Thep Mekharat Goddess’ and bring peace and harmony to the world.

During the reenactment, Jessada was not the least distressed or affected by what he did appearing inattentive and unperturbed.

After the reenactment police then escorted him to the Samut Prakarn Provincial Court for permission to detain him for further questioning.

Before the Thai bashing kicks off, please do remember certain of our illustrious migrants from the predominantly, African continent to the UK see nothing wrong in sacrificing their kids, mothers .. Oh, and absolutely no 'honour' killings here.

Those reenactments, they tidy matters up conclusively. The cops can then enjoy showing off the cash bundles they award themselves for a job well done.

As long as mental problems getting ignored things like this will be( unfortunately) happen....

Profundity knows no limits on this forum coffee1.gif

Seems you need to do some research how mentally challenged people get treated here in Thailand...

1. You underestimate my veridical experience of how those, mentally or physically ill, are treated here.

2. You're last comment is in no way pertinent to the thread.neus.gif

Wow, prejudice and stereotype to start a thread.

And not even linked to the OP.

Nice.

It's weird. The guy admits the murder, then recreats the scene. After that, the cops 'escort' him to court to seek permission to question him further.! facepalm.gif

Mental illness is a sad thing and too few options for help in Thailand. On the positive side at least he did not have access to automatic weapons.

If only the relatives would have assisted the man in seeking professional help for his depression this might not have happened. Sadly mental illnesses is still taboo and swept under carpet in Thailand.

I don't know what you're talking about, "mental problems getting ignored." Several years ago I was living with my first wife out in the boonies in Nakhon Ratchasima. My sister-in-law was suffering depression and other symptoms. The family, poor rural farmers with little education, took her to the psychiatric hospital in Khorat, she stayed for about a month, and treatment was successful. We see people in just about all countries who are having emotional/mental difficulties and trying to work through the symptoms without help. Sometimes they end up killing. Mostly they don't, or only kill themselves. I should mention that the U.S. consumes enormous quantities of psychiatric drugs, mostly anti-depressants like Prozac or Xanax, as well as huge quantities of pain killers. There doesn't seem to be much care taken.

It never seems to occur to these people that if they felt a blood sacrifice was needed to appease the Gods......their own could be perfectly acceptable?

What's the difference between a murder and a solider? One is allowed to kill and the other one isn't!

If someone consents to wanting to die, their beliefs should be respected!

Everyone that is reading this will be dead in 100 years. These really no point if we die tomorrow or in 20 years. Long as it wasn't murder it should be allowed.

Yes, there are mentally disturbed people everywhere that do terrible things at times, and your point is?

I will be equally as shocked no matter where this sort of things occurs.

The problem for Thailand is they experience these things in addition to all of the terrible things that they inflict upon themselves as well as others and many of the things that frequently happen here do not occur everywhere else.

This guy certainly needs attention and I feel for his poor wife, RIP.

Too bad he doesn't claim membership to one of the "Big Three" religions from Middle East, all of which revere Abraham's pure love and devotion to God.. He could say had "Abraham syndrome", that God told him to do it (in that case sacrifice his son Isaac), but in this case failed to intervene and say "sorry, just kidding". God's getting older, maybe slipped his mind....

Just read any newspaper from any country, nutters abound, they need their own political party to prevent persecution, i blame it on Mac Donalds, well somebody is to blame.

Sadly it seems more like a Persian rug falling apart at the seams.

I think this chap is definitely a fruit and nut case killing his wife as a sacrifice to a goddess he needs to be locked up for the rest of his life, he certainly cant be allowed to roam free.

Always the chance a prenup might help next time around

Give the guy a break, perhaps she was disobedient as well as sacrificial.

Well, apparently, mental illness does not care about options for help... Give them weapons, they'll kill by the dozen, give them a plane, more then 1 hundred.. without even the excuse of religious fanatism .

Unfortunately, s**t happens , stay safe out there... World is a mess, and not getting better.
