I would like to access my 800k, as I have no-one to leave it to, and can live comfortably on my UK gov. pension as I own my condo and my

needs are minimal..not even sure how I would spend the 800K !

My life expectation is unlikely to be much more than 5-8 years, so I was thinking how I might get a year long visa, or other type, even if necessary to make major exit/s to get one.

I am not keen on spending the future at Immi getting revolving re-entries and being quizzed, as seems to be the burden of many posters here.

Neither do I want to have to re-apply in the near future for another retirement visa.

Hope you can help. Thank You.

The Thai Elite card visa may be your best option ......... 5 year visa, some privileges come with it.

There are several forums on TV about obtaining this card .... search at the top of the page.

How much is your monthly pension. You could possibly reduce the 800k baht in the bank by combining your annual income with it to reach 800k baht.

Do you intend to die in Thailand? Won't you be needing money for medical expenses? That's one of the reasons that Immigration wants you to have money on account.

ubonjoe..my monthly pension annualised is only about 30% of the 800k

mahjongguy... I have Social Security about 400 baht per month. I believe it also covers disposal of my remains, which I gifted to Thai Red Cross when I lived in Bangkok, but

understand they would not collect from Jomtien.

GEZZ , be a hero and leave your money or whatever is left to an orphanage , you will be a true benefactor, there are plenty of places that need help feeding ,educating abaddoned children, who knows your name may be given to a ward. of classroom, with a plaque , at least you will be remembered by some one. and you will do a huge amount of good.

Very few people are granted the privilege of dying quietly and suddenly in their sleep. Most who live to old age have a period of decline and frailty which can involve significant medical expenses prior to death. There may come a time when you're glad you have 800,000 baht set aside and if it comes to the point that you have multiple health problems, don't be reluctant to spend it for that. At that point, you can maintain your visa status with medical extensions.

I will pull the plug..and I do have social security if my DNR (living will), instructions are ignored.

OP you sound your across all aspects of where your at. Well except for the visa stuff.. You have been here more than long enough to know all about visas.. continue with the 12 month extensions. Have some visa mob organise your reports etc or get an elite card. Since you don't need the money in bank just leave it there

Having had a work permit for 15 years and retirement for 15, I have never had to delve into the ever changing regs here (which I see but do not read),, and was hoping for an up to date viable suggestion. I am unsure what "visa mob, organise your reports" really means, Kindly clarify.

Good reasoning, I have similar thoughts, no need to get old and live in pain. I will make sure I got an exit plan too. I don't understand people wanting to hang on to life at all cost.

Nitrogen works a treat as well. It's all well and good to have a plan but then it all goes bottoms up when one has a heart attack or stroke and is incapacitated mentally, physically, or both, and can't put ones death plan into effect.

The OP was about avoiding trips to imm , paperwork etc and money in bank etc. You can do your report online. Too difficult then have or pay someone to do it for you. That leaves one annual imm visit. Or use some of your 800k for elite visa. BTW the rules don't change only some of the enforcement of the rules

Your right but in reality it means the same as a rule change.

If something is first not enforced so you don't have to do it and later it is enforced its not a rule change but in effect it is.

The OP has to do annual 12 month extensions.

What rule has changed for them or likely to. If the OP wishes to pay for an elite to avoid a yearly visit to imm so be it.
