KOH SAMUI:-- On the 14th of October, police and DNP officials raided several houses on Koh Samui Island after WFFT made again a detailed complaint about the use of illegally obtained gibbons in tourism.

The gibbons were used day and night as photo-props on the beaches and inside the cities on the island.

After investigators followed the men with gibbons back to their homes at night, several locations were found where the gibbon babies were kept during the non-working hours.

In the morning of the 14th several places were raided and 7 gibbons were found and confiscated.

WFFT will continue to pressure authorities to enforce the law on wildlife trade and exploitation.

Besides Koh Samui we also will force action on Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi and Pattaya.

WFFT wish to thank the director-general Niphon Chotibal for taking their complaint seriously and acting accordingly.

Quote "WFFT will continue to pressure authorities to enforce the law on wildlife trade and exploitation."

Does this exploitation include the monkey theatre, crocodile farm, elephant rides, tiger zoo, the use of monkeys to farm coconuts as well as the lizards, snakes and monkeys used for photographic souvenirs facepalm.gif
