Phang Nga Governor calls urgent meeting on tourist safety

PHANG NGA, 20 October 2015 (NNT) - The Governor of Phang Nga province has convened an urgent meeting on tourist safety, following recent reports of foreign deaths.

The meeting was held to ensure that people visiting Phang Nga are protected year-round. Phang Nga Governor Pakhapong Thawipat said an inspection is expected to be carried out at popular tourist sites, particularly ones that offer adventure tours or activities.

These activities include car racing, paramotoring, bungee jumping, rock climbing and whitewater rafting.

A committee will be appointed to make sure that operators of these types of activities comply with safety regulations and that tourists are informed of the risks involved.
