US concerned over ethnic fighting in Myanmar

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. State Department is voicing concern over fighting in Myanmar's Kachin and Shan states, a week after the government reached a cease-fire with eight rebel armies.

Myanmar media have reported that nearly 3,000 people have fled recent clashes between government forces and Shan insurgents who did not sign the cease-fire.

Department spokesperson for East Asia, Ory Abramowicz, said Friday that military action undermines trust needed to build lasting peace and security, whether that action involves signatories or non-signatories to the agreement.

The U.S. called for signatories to adhere to the spirit and letter of the agreement and allow unrestricted access for humanitarian workers.

The cease-fire was a long-sought first step toward ending decades of ethnic rebellion, but distrust runs deep and most major insurgent groups refused to sign.

What the eff does the US have to comment on another countries affairs in Myanmar. Maybe they think they can invade and win the first battle since Normandy in Myanmar. I say, sort out your own problems with every kid wanting to shoot up a school, sort out your welfare destitute glitch. Sort out your stupid overseas warfare strategy, where the Ruskies show you up. Go back to America, lick your wounds and come back as the country that practices the constitution that you are supposed to uphold. You are no longer sheriffs, you are no longer deputies. Pull your head in, hand over your nukes because you are no longer a power to be trusted. Take Russia with you, no body knows the difference these days.
