Neeranam
Maybe someone can help me with a matter that has been puzzling me for years. In Thailand, I'd estimate that 70% or more women with their first initial 'O' or 'U' is overweight. This is much higher than that of other initials. Is there any reason for this? There is a higher proportion of beautiful ones with 'S' and 'T' . 'J' 'K' are pretty normal. Any comments?

Ulysses G.
I'm still amused by how many women here have porn somewhere in their names The first time I came to Thailand, I landed in Phuket and was staying at Patong Beach near a shop called "Porn Shop". I kept going in and out of the shop, but I was too embarrased to ask the salesgirl where they kept the porn!

And the few there are not really in the statistics, not enough of them. Well, where did you meet them so that we can have a opinion on the question? Richard W
porn = พร = blessingAlthough it is not ideal either, they would be better of transliterating it as 'pawn', because there is no 'r' sound in there. There's definitly no 'w' there, though, whereas there is an 'r' in the Thai spelling. Final '-orn' seems even more more appropriate where the Thai has both an 'r' and an 'n' in the spelling, as in the common final name element ภรณ์, pronounced the same as พร. It is a mistake to try to correlate an English letter directly to a Thai letter. It is useful for learning and remembering but they shouldn't be seen as so rigid. Ror Rua, or ร can be an r sound, an n sound or even silent. IMO, I think the confusion here comes from the fact that different English accents create different sounds for the same letter combinations. Porn spoken by a Brit will sound much the same as pawn spoken by an American. I can't think of any Thai word that ends with a distinct rn sound. Ror Rua at the end of a a word denotes an n sound. h90
If you speak Bangkok in German it is right in english it is not right. porn = พร = blessing Although it is not ideal either, they would be better of transliterating it as 'pawn', because there is no 'r' sound in there.
