WHO DONE THE VISA 5 YEARS WITH THAILAND ELITE ?

Featured Replies

Hi

i need your experience and your information about the 5 years tourism visa with thailand elite ?

i have 2 questions .

- my passeport expire on july 2019 , that s mean if i apply for 5 years visa, i will change my passeport before my visa expired, so can i transfer my visa to my new passeport ?

- is the visa sure to be allowed and certified for the 5 years ? if immigration or gouvernment change the rules in 2 or 3 years, can they cancel the visa or change anything about it ?

btw, for people done it already, are you satisfied about thailand elite ? about the service they do ?

thank you for reply

I would be very surprised if a medium term visa (5 years) which has been issued and is in your passport is ever cancelled before it expires.

The Thailand Elite programme did close down at one point many years ago and all visas and memberships remained valid and were honoured, it then opened back up again and all has been well ever since.

As for the service I haven't really used it apart from the visa. I got my visa while in Thailand last summer and I haven't left the country since.

I did use the concierge service at Chaeng Wattana when they issued the visa and stuck it into my passport. Someone from TE met me at the immigration building headquarters reception desk and they did everything for me. It only took about 10-15 minutes in all.

Like any visa - it can be transferred into a new passport.

Immigration could change the laws at any time which means they could cancel the Visa.

As ukrules mentioned - Thai Elite was threatened with closure a few years ago. During that period (a few months) no new visa's were issued, existing visas were honoured.

The service is good - there are threads running which members have commented on their levels of satisfaction which basically boils down to how much they value their time and how they value avoiding the hassles associated with application and renewal of other long term visas.

Airport transfer is very handy.

The free (included) yearly medical is useful - it encourages me to take a medical yearly !

The Golf & Massage are just 'dressing' but handy if you play golf and have friends to play with who are also members or don't mind paying for some of the more expensive courses.

Yes, the Thai Elite office will assist you in the transfer.

Sure to be allowed... No. You submit your application and then it goes to immigration for approval. Only takes a few days until you are notified. Once approved, then you pay.

Can they change the rules? This is Thailand, so anything is possible, but even if they do, I think it unlikely they would cancel your visa. More likely just not issue new ones.

btw, for people done it already, are you satisfied about thailand elite ? about the service they do ?

Yes, very satisfied. So far it has been the most painless entry to (and exits from) Thailand I have even experienced. Plus if you live in Bangkok, they will do the 90 day reporting for you and take care of the one year renewal.

Note though, that the airport limo service is only for internation flights, not domestic.

ok thank u for ur information

A off topic post meant to derail this topic has been removed.

If the METV ends up restricting you to having to go home twice a year, the costs are for me only about $1800 a year more an no restrictions on what you do. It is looking a good deal for those that are not tight with funding an want no Visa problems. I think jealousy rides a lot of people but you cannot take your money or lost time with "Visa" headaches with you when you die.

I am looking heavily into this now if I have to run back home twice a year in the future.

I wish i was rich enough to do it, met someone who has, and its so much easier.......

Visas are not transferred to a new passport although a notation may be made in a new passport,

Normally your extension of stay stamp, re-entry permits and info about the original visa entry are all that is transferred.

Nonsense. An extension of stay, re-entry permit and notation of last visa entry are transferred. Visas are not transferred.

Presumably you don't understand the difference in an extension of stay and a visa.

I just had a new passport issued (blank booklet) here in Thailand. My old passport has the SE visa and the entry stamp.

Need to go to Immigration in Chaeng Wattana to do a two step process;

1. (Transfer / Restamp) the arrival stamp into the new passport. This can take a few hours.

2. Once the arrival stamp is in the new passport, need to get in another queue/window to have the (SE) visa sticker placed into the new booklet. At a minimum, you will be able to conserve any unexpired visa time.

The process is slightly different for those flying into Thailand with a new passport, issued overseas. In this case, the (SE) visa in the expired passport needs to be presented upon arrival and immigration will stamp the arrival details into the new booklet. You will need to go to Chaeng Wattana to get the visa sticker in the new booklet (which seems like a 15 minute process).

Some countries allow you to continue to present an expired passport with a valid visa... no need to transfer it to the new booklet, but this is not the case for the above visa.

Hope this helps,

Do you have an official source from where that information can be verified ?

I am about to get my 3rd five year elite visa (original programme member). I just spoke to the service centre regarding this exact subject. The information tpkhk gave regarding the elite visa is 100% accurate. I cannot speak for other visa types.

Right....it's the extension of stay that's important, all a visa does is authorise the extension of stay!!!! Much ado about nothing I rekon!!laugh.pngthumbsup.gifwai.gif

I have Life Time membership (1MB from the earlier days of the Thai Elite program).

The Visa is a 5 year renewable Visa for the remainder of my life.

With Passport expiry (pages used up) I received a new Passport from the British Embassy after which I was able to have the S.E. Visa (Page sized sticker) placed into my New Passport (this was at Suan Plu when it was still open).

It wasn't a new visa - I was 3 years into the 5 year visa, the remaining 2 years were transferred (a new Sticker - same dates).

You can't present your visa in an expired passport. You get it transferred

You can't present your visa in an expired passport. You get it transferred

Nonsense!

Inexperienced "travelers" should refrain from making ill-informed comment

Visas are never "transferred" ....................

Have you ever had a Visa transferred?

VALID VISAS remain valid even if contained within an expired passport.

Valid visas in an expired passport will be accepted by immigration officers world wide.

To use a valid visa contained in an expired passport one presents both the expired passport containing the valid visa together with a current valid passport.

Yes... As per my post above.

I scrimp and save and am super cheap in most aspects of my life. Yet, I paid the 500K to pamper myself.

It's not worth it, but I don't care.

I also buy a business class ticket back to USA every year.

It was my motivation for staying single as well... to pamper myself.

Possibly!

But in this case if your passport has less than 5 years to run they stamp it with a PE visa that expires the same day that your passport does. When you get the new passport you have to go back to Chaeng Wattana and they will give you a new visa that expires 5 years after you picked up the first.

Source: The girl must have explained it to me a dozen times when I went to get my visa.

To the OP: It appears to do what it says on the box - you hand over the money and they give you a visa. I haven't tried using any of the other services they offer.

What you claim may or may not be true , I have now idea.

That does not alter the fact that valid visas are never "transferred",

Visas issued by a Thai embassy or consulate cannot be transferred. You have to use both passports until the visa expires.

Since immigration issues the SE and PE visas they will do a new visa sticker with the remaining validity of the existing visa shown on it. and put it in the new passport.

I can recall a post by a member that had a PE visa who had lost his passport and they gave him a new visa sticker.

That explains the differences nicely and removes any ambiguity as to why some are saying that Visa's cannot be transferred and others such as myself who have had the remaining validity of an S.E. (or P.E.) visa transferred upon expiry of the passport, or in my case into a new passport.

... thanks...

From the Elite Staff.. Dear........

Greeting from CRM Section…

Regarding to your query, please be informed that if your passport is expired while your PE Visa is still valid so it would be transferred to your new passport but before that we need you to send us a scan of your first page of passport and PE visa page so that we can check it for you. If you have any further question, please feel free to let us know at your most convenient.
