vento Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Hi, im looking to rent an small condo in Bangkok But i struggle to find a good location Some of the places i lived in BKK was an absolutely disaster, due to the fact, that i had to drive almost everywhere. sometimes "high so" removes all the benefits of the bkk life, since there is nothing nearby. This time im not looking for a "normal" budget place, in a location where i can - walk to good reasonable priced resturants/streetfood - mall close/nearby with banks/western food - supermarket close, foodland, bigc etc - relatively central, or easy access to a good highway connection - bts/mrt would be even better. - not to many foreigners and not the only one in short, a place where i have a good deal of everything where close, or even in walking distance. As an example of such location, i could mention Ramkanhaeng, lower numbers, where there is foodland, bigc, mall, streetfood and a highway nearby. and not to far from Suk and all the malls in that area. unfortunaly, due to various reason, that area is out of the question, for now at least. Does anyone know of such location, or have any suggestions for me, i would appriciate it. Thanks in advance
dddave Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Victory Monument area fits all those requirements, Aree & Phiya Thai nearby also convenient.
vento Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Victory Monument area fits all those requirements, Aree & Phiya Thai nearby also convenient. Isnt theese areas have a lot of tourists? Im thinking it looks a bit close to central festival, ploenchit, platinum etc etc? Maybe im wrong, i just think i remember these areas to be quite chaotic?
vento Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Lad Phrao i looked at a rental website, and it looks like have a fair amount of reasonable prices condoes available close to the MRT (whatever close means in an AD) but more importantly, most of the description text said a lot of about central for shopping, resturants etc etc This area will be on my list for a walk around. it could be an candidate. any idea about highway, is it easy to get into central asoke/sathorn etc? Anyone live around here and can tell a bit how you feel about it here? pro/cons? cheers
vento Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 No one have Any input about lad prao? Which part is good, what to avoid? Any tips???
Mooner Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Soi 8 and 10. 3 mins walk from the MRT. Think there is a LIFE condo on the corner if I'm right. Central Payoyothin 10 mins walk. Big C 3 mins walk with KFC and food court. Also Union Mall. More relaxed than Sukhumvit or Ratchada. Ratchada maybe better for you but I don't know your budget!!
Mooner Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I will take about 20/30 mins to Asoke. As I said Ratchada is better.
vento Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 Budget is 15-25k if possible, but Can stretch if needed
smokie36 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Budget is 15-25k if possible, but Can stretch if needed 25k might get you a condo around Petchaburi MRT....a lot closer to town...mind you if you need to use the MRT to get to work at peak time in the morning be prepared to be squeezed.
anotheruser Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I don't know 25k would be around the minimum for Petchaburi MRT area and the maximum for his budget. Would be stretching it I think he would do better where he would get more than just location on that kind of money. Where is that? I have no idea. Circle up the road on Petchaburi might have a studio in that range but it is a very long walk to the MRT or use one of their shuttles. The last thing I want to do after getting off the MRT is wait for a shuttle. They have a brilliant pool area and exercise room though.
vento Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 I don't know 25k would be around the minimum for Petchaburi MRT area and the maximum for his budget. Yes, i agree.. i rather move "out" a bit and get it cheaper and possible a larger selection of street resturants (i dont mean like 35 baht food) just the small relaxed resturants which often offer good food at reasonable price and very relaxed settings. Its far more important that i have as much as possible outside my doorstep, like food, Mall, 7/11 etc etc Im not to familiar with Petchaburi MRT area, but as what i have seen earlier in bangkok, the more expensive the area, the less "life" surrounding the building. Maybe i'm wrong, but that's my feeling about it.
dddave Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Lad Phrow is 7 stops on the subway (MRT) from Sukhumvit (Asok), probably about a 25 minute ride at non-peak times. Problem can be late at night after MRT closes at midnight. BTW, if you are over 65 (not sure exact age) the MRT will give you an Elder top up card=1/2 fare. BTS does not do this. Just go to the ticket window with your passport. Lad Phrow is a fairly densely populated area and quite working class in character though many new condo buildings have sprouted up recently. Soi Lad Phrow is a major thouroughfare. One area nearby, handy to both Lad Phrow and Rhamkamheng is "Town in Town"' a townhouse community with many interesting restaurants and cafe's plus a lively music and arts scene. The area is the location of a lot of dance, TV and movie production studios.
AlexRRR Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 No one have Any input about lad prao? Which part is good, what to avoid? Any tips??? I lived there for about a year, in-between Central Lad Phrao and Major on Pholyuthin rd, excuse the spelling, Mrt next to central plenty of eating options, reasonably quite daytime until around 4 then full on bumper to bumper to midnight, the walk and mrt takes about 45 min to get to Asoke. Right now I'm told there is lots of traffic issues due to a BTS line being built, its ok if you not driving other wise its not where you want to be the next few years.
FRIDAYMe Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 According to my experience, I have lived in condo sukhumvit101/1 so I could mention Sukhumvit (Udomsuk or Punnawitee area) - walk to good reasonable priced restaurants/streetfood <<yes>> - mall close/nearby with banks/western food <<yes, this area is very near Central Bangna, Paradise Park, Seaconsquare>> - supermarket close, foodland, bigc etc <<yes, there is Tops supermarket, villa market, bigC>> - relatively central, or easy access to a good highway connection << yes, it very near highway(sukhumvit62)>> - bts/mrt would be even better. <<yes, BTS Udonsuk station>> - not to many foreigners and not the only one << Nowadays, everywhere in Bangkok also can find foreigners and I dont think there is much foreigner in this area>>
JHolmesJr Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Phrakhanong is a good one….got its own bts AND post office…..cheap, lots of local flavour and 10-12 minutes from asoke by bts.
mcfish Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I sent you a pm Sent from my SC-01D using Tapatalk
easybullet3 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 - Ratchada has the Big supermarkets and the street life and nightlife and everything.. and near to all trains etc. - Victory monument has everything, BUT it lacks a good supermarket. (there is Soi Rangnam) near to Victory monument which has restaurants and a park and a shopping centre with cinema and a Tops supermarket below. - Pratunam has all of this too.. its between Victory Monument and the Central WOrld HUGE shopping mall. - Latprao is ok, but its a really long road and full of traffic. it depends where you are living on this road.
