Family Restaurants

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am coming to Pattaya for 3 days next week and would like some advice on good family

restaurants. They don't need to be child focused just child friendly. I particularly would

like to know about Seafood restaurants, Indian, Chinese, Mexican and Spanish, although

any others would be appreciated. The only thing I am not interested in is Hotel or fine dining

as that is out of my budget.

Thanks in advance

OK, I'll take a stab at places good for a family.

Seafood restaurants, Indian, Chinese, Mexican and Spanish,

Seafood: Nang Nual on Walking Street, on the water

Indian: Madras Darbar on 2nd road across from Pattaya Central Beach Mall

Chinese: Limited options in Pattaya. For a family I would suggest doing Thai Chinese instead at Leng Kee, Pattaya Klang, corner of Soi Buekeow.

Famous for roast duck. Option for aircon space. Many Thai families.

You could also do Shanghai on 3rd for closer to actual Chinese. OK if the kids aren't loud.

Mexican: This is a poor town for Mexican food. For a family your best bet is Mike's Mexican, on Thappraya road going between south Pattaya and Jomntien

Spanish: I've got nothing for you.

Surf and Turf, right on Wong Amat Beach; at the point on Soi Naklua 16 where it takes a hard right bend, you would make a left there and follow the signs to their parking lot.

Wide range of cuisines, well prepared and served, friendly staff, and a great place to watch the sunset. Kids will love it.

Will you have a car?

If not, what part of town will you be staying?

If in Jomtien, there are some fantastic seafood places far down Jomtien Beach road.

Glasshouse would be very difficult to access without a car. Pattaya does not have metered taxis. Also, currently, according to Tripadvisor there is a major NOISY renovation happening at Glasshouse.

All the shopping malls have restaurants focusing on families; Fugi, MK, Sizzler, food courts, fast food, etc. For seaside ambiance I would take my family to Birds and Bee (Cabbage & Condoms) for the fish and petting rabbits, etc.

I was always under the impression this restaurant was called " Moom Aroi" (Delicious Corner in Thai)

No, Moom Aroi is way up Pattaya-Naklua Road almost to the end on the left, and is very nice as well.

S&T is new this year, and is a delightful place right on Wong Amat Beach.

The OP says he is staying at Centara World; assuming he means Centara Grand Mirage, S&T is only a few hundred meters north up the beach promenade, and would be very convenient. As would Rim Talay in the other direction from Centara.

OK, since you have a car I'd adjust what I said before.

My focus is baht bus friendly places.

You have many more options.

For seafood, rather than walking street, you should do something further out, either Pu Pen Jomtien, one of the famous places in Bang Saray (others will tell you) or perhaps Moom Aroi Naklua. Unless you want to eat on Walking Street. A lot of tourists do.

For Chinese, you're right Shanghai will be good but if you're looking for a higher culinary level more authentic Chinese experience (but not horribly expensive), I would suggest DA RONG HE a place I recently reviewed that's in the back of Big C (North Pattaya).

For Indian, you could sign up for eatigo.com and get 50 percent off at 5:30 P.M. daily at Indian by Nature, a gourmet level Indian restaurant, easily among the best in Thailand. It would a bit of a risk on the family comfortable aspect. I wouldn't take toddlers, that's for sure. It's a fancy restaurant attitude but with the EARLY BIRD discount time slot it won't be crowded and you won't regret eating there, and also you'll appreciate the 50 percent off because otherwise the place is very EXPENSIVE. That's for any food on their menu. Drinks not discounted and yes they are expensive!

The way eatigo works is you just sign up for an account (free) and reserve using your smartphone for the time slot and number party. You'll get an instant confirmation and then just show them the confirmation on the phone when you arrive. If your booking is for 530 you must show up between 530 and 600.
