Interior Ministry launches title deed-issuing project to reduce social disparity

NONTHABURI, 6 November 2015 (NNT) – Interior Ministry undersecretary Krissada Boonyarat presided over the opening ceremony for a title deed-issuing project to be implemented nationwide.

He also launched a caravan of staff to carry out operations under such a project at the Department of Land in Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi province.

In fiscal year 2016, the department has launched two title deed-issuing projects, with the first scheduled for completion within 10 years (2016-2024) in 42 provinces, 15 centers and a targeted total of 100,000 plots of land to be given title deeds.

The second project is for title deeds to be granted in three southern border provinces and areas outside Budo-Su Ngai Padi national park with a targeted total of 4,500 plots of land.

The project is apparently in line with the government’s policy to narrow social disparity and provide shared happiness as well as manage the land for appropriate uses by the local people, according to the undersecretary.

Thus, the people will have the right to own the land and be legally protected as well as given access to financial sources from where they may obtain funding for the developing of the land to the extent that productivity will be increased and more revenue generated.

That will eventually lead to the development and stability of the country as a whole, he said.

Giving land to the poor, has been tried before, then the rich,

influential, and powerful people move in and buy the land

off them, offering them cash and maybe some coercion.

The government is not giving them land, but trying to ensure that they have the correct land title that goes, or should go with the land.

They came out with a similar "project" on Phuket 3 years ago to convert owner-occupied small plots to Chanote.

We lodged all the paperwork/evidence - no action unless you pay a bo\nus to the Land Office.

Clean up corruption - Yeah right!
