How to call from Thailand to Europe and hide my number ?

Hi.

I would like to make some calls from Thailand to France,

but I would like to hide my phone number so people cannot know where I am calling from.

It seems that this feature is not possible or permitted with mobile phone provider in Thailand (TRUE, AIS, DTAC ...)

Does anyone know a trick to do that ?

Thank you.

Try SKYPE

I do not think SKYPE is a good solution for that because it use Internet network that requires to have good quality network everytime and everywhere in Thailand. That's why I would like to use only 3G/4G Thai providers networks.

I only know about AIS. You can get what is called a private number, but you retain whatever your existing number is. It has a small standing charge every month, 50 baht I think. You can withhold caller ID. But you have to apply in person at an AIS office and you must take your passport.

I use Skype and Line and both services are fine and usually clear - occasional poor service (1 in 5) and when that happens I just call later. I call from either my PC or my Iphone, and I can use either the mobile data network or a WiFi network to make the call. I use my home WiFi only - as public WiFi is often very poor.

Regarding security of your identification and location. https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA273/what-number-will-the-person-i-am-calling-see-if-i-call-from-skype

Just make sure you do not setup caller identification in Skype and then call them on a landline number. If you call another Skype device (PC or Smartphone) they can easily trace your IP Address (geographic area). If you call a mobile phone number, and they have a smartphone, they could have software installed that can also trace your IP address (not many know about it though). If you are prepared to go this far, you can setup a VPN on your PC/smartphone (or on your WiFi network) and therefore you can make it appear you are calling from another location - useful if they have a smartphone with the tracking software - and you can change that location with whatever country is available from your VPN provider.

If you have no/little idea what I am talking about (VPN, WiFi etc.) then get a smartphone (Iphone or Android - not Blackberry) install Skype and then call them only on their landline number - or call them on their mobile phone and hope they dont have the tracking software. There is no other way than using an internet communications application like Line, Skype, etc., to avoid location (that I am aware of) because all telecommunications networks exchange location information to work (plus legal requirement). And yes, the 'spooks' can still track and trace and monitor you, but frankly they have much much bigger fish to catch than you or I.

Well as I already posted AIS has a service called "Private Number" which I assure you does withhold the senders number.

What the heck are you talking about? You make it look like Thailand is still somewhere in the middle ages.

I can use Skype with a brilliant quality at home, at school, at several spots, I've got the code from and it is THE Solution.

It's always nice to read peoples' opinion about things they know nothing about. If you don't believe me, Google it. facepalm.gif

I frequently use Skype to speak and video chat with friends and relatives all over the world, and at most times it gives a marvelous service. Sometimes on video it`s like being in the same room as a person, providing everything is set up correctly.

I am not sure if it is possible to make anonymous calls using any service. But on the other hand I`ve never had to and wonder why anybody would? Unless they`re up to no good.

Skype is based on VoIP (Voice over IP) and does work on mobile networks (3G, etc.), WiFi, etc.

Just need to install the app on your smartphone, on you PC.

That is true, but the senders number is only withheld from the person called - not from the networks. I believe the OP wishes to keep it secret he is calling from Thailand as well as his number here. The call from any mobile or landline network here (private call service or not) can easily be found out that it is coming from Thailand - all it takes is a little IT knowledge and the right equipment and software. If all the OP wants is to keep his number private, then the AIS service is fine as you say - but if he wants no one to know he is calling from Thailand, then he will need more than that.

What a drama you are making out of this. All the OP wants to do is withhold his number. Now perhaps the people he is calling are black ops deep undercover secret agents who are deeply suspicious of the OP's phone calls and will commit huge IT resources to hack the network, but somehow I doubt it. There are no ways to remain anonymous either online, by phone or using other gadgets. Even if using alias names and details the origins of from where will be exposed.

If using a proxy server or the Tor browser on the deep web, the details of a user will eventually surface to the ISP and we now have to register our sim cards Another option is to use a public telephone box, but the location will still be known and the calls may be monitored and recorded.

Or maybe just use the settings of your phone
"don't show my own number?" Or maybe "incognito call", etc..

Yeaah yeaah it's not so easy when you wanna tell your boss that you're sick at home in France to "extend your holiday".

Hope it all works well and the chicka is it worth. thumbsup.gif

Now it's really gettin' interesting. Is it possible that a bomb attack is planned by using the "specialists of TFV?"

I'm certain that the two words "bomb attack" will be picked up by some guys out there. Hello and Sawasdee khrap from Thailand to all Anonyme spies of the FBI,CSI, BKA and all their fiends.
