I was in Thailand for a while on a non-immigrant retirement visa. Started working again in the US. My old visa has expired and I would like to return to Thailand on a tourist visa. When I left Thailand I bought my round trip ticket from there, so when I arrive again I will have no return ticket and would rather purchase another ticket while in country. Would this be a problem?

Thanks in advance!

Whether you need a ticket out of the country depends upon where you apply for the tourist visa. If asked for it you could get a one way ticket to a nearby country on a low cost carrier for not a lot of money.

Currently the embassy in DC only asks for a letter stating your travel plans.

I keep hearing about requirent for flight out in addition to flight in. I recall bali being mentioned by that thread was not about setv. My experience while limited to only few consulates, was that only ticket into los was required. Makes sense....i mean what if you intended to do a conversion etc. Or your travel plans were fluid. Crazy that someone should require a ticket out of los especially if funds were demonstrated. The crazy world of visas

Hi,

I heard that Bali does require proof of a ticket leaving Thailand when apply for a SE Visa. Do I need to get this ticket leaving Thailand in 60 days, or is 90 days OK as I plan on getting a 30 day extension?

Ninety days will be accepted.

Thanks Ubonjoe.

#1) I've heard Bali wants to see proof of funds, $700 USD or so for SE TV.

Is cash acceptable?

If not, the bank I use in America is a corporate account, and doesn't mention my name personally anywhere on the document. And I have no documentation which shows I control or have ownership of this account.

Any advise?

#2) I've read Bali wants to see hotel confirmations, or rental agreements.. I live in a condo owned by family in Thailand. I don't pay rent or anything.. What I do have is some document in Thai written by condo managers saying I live there I think.. (I needed to get this letter created, as Jomtien asked me for it when I last did a 30 day extension as proof of my residence.)

Do you think this is sufficient?

Thanks for your help Ubonjoe.

1. How do you access the account? If you are using a ATM/Debit card you could use the receipt for a withdrawal along with the statement.to prove you have access to it.

If not perhaps open a basic savings account at a Thai bank and put the money in it.

Not sure cash will work because they want a document attached to the application to prove they got the proof.

2. Any sort of proof you have a place stay will work.

As a matter for future knowledge, will the Thai consulate in Bali accept a coach ticket such as, for example, Hat Yai to KL, bought online and including email receipt, as onward ticket out of Thailand?

sorry if i am highjacking this but my friend want to come to see me ahd stay longer than one month, he would not have an exit flight booked as he will not know when he will go back to the uk,would this SETV thing be the right one for him, i am RETARDED (he he) and live here thanks

Depends on the where and you can check the website on the consulate or embassy before hand.

Never been a requirement in Australia but had to show a ticket out when I applied in Hanoi in August this year; I just rented a ticket online from a service that offers it (I'd mention it as I'm not affiliated with it but don't want to break any rules here at TV) for $9.95, although I know others who have happily faked a ticket when applying as they don't check.

He can get a single entry tourist visa from the embassy in London or one of the consulates without a onward or return ticket.

The visa will allow a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

Info can be found on the embassy website here: http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/4

Hello, can I know if anybody has been asked to show a return ticket when arriving at airport with a SETV ?

I have a Chinese passport, so I wonder if they will ask me to book a ticket ?

Thank you.

If you can get the tourist  visa without a return or onward ticket you will not be asked for one when your board the flight or on arrival here.
