langauge exchange options chiang mai

Featured Replies

I have let my Thai slide a lot this year and really want to get back into it

besides the schools is there any options in Chiang Mai with language exchange, not so much reading out of a text book

but language exchange between foreigners and Thai people?

What are some options out there I would love to know

thanks

just be outgoing and surely you will meet some Thai who want to work on their English language skills. Make some friends - go out and try and speak Thai with everyone you see. Some will understand you and some will not - trial and error.

Been doing that for 15 years now and am fairly proficient… at least fluid conversationally.

Good luck and keep trying.

Agreed.

That's the best advice he could get from anybody.

Language classes and books help, but there is no substitute for getting out and about.

Some people have an aptitude for learning languages.

I was born without one, but I overcame it to learn Thai.

I didn't want my Thai family and children to see me as a blockhead who couldn't speak the language.

Quit going around with expats, most are complaining old losers anyway and not interesting. For years I only intermingled with Thais and it makes you learn speak/read/write the language in no time, additional I took a few 121 courses to learn specific things and rows like days and months etc.

Many especially older foreigners live here but don't care about learning the language they are nothing but long time tourists, don't become one of them!

NOw that you've learned the language from Thais, maybe you can ask them to give you some lessons in manners.
