Srikcir
"the reform body will, on Monday, convene a meeting to discuss urgent matter concerning procedures and steps towards reform in 11 areas listed in the national reform roadmap" For the last 18 months its predecessor NRA had been doing just that very same thing. BUT now it's an urgent matter? Probably what is urgent is that the Thai public pressured the NRC to reject the draft 2015 constitution and now the old roadmap is in the trash can. The new reform group must deflect the public's attention from 18 months of failed procedures by now being URGENT to do something. Otherwise an elected government might not cooperate with NRC/NRSA machinations and actually attempt self-determination. Bad idea for the military. candide
Remember Suthep's slogan: "reform before elections". So why would they hurry to reform?
waldroj
Like most TV contributors, I also question the painfully slow pace of reform. But, as I understand it, the NRSA work could only have been commenced once the draft charter preparation was underway. The 1-1-18 timetable for the NRSA was to proceed in parallel with the 6-4-6-4 roadmap.

The word "urgent" when applied to Thai political and legal processes has a special meaning which cannot be equated to its dictionary definition. deckape
Jeez, didn't hey plan that coup for years? They could have had the "reform" ideas ready before they fired up the tanks.

Because it has never been the true reason for Suthep's protests and resulting coup. It just looked more acceptable to put it forward, rather than the publicise the true motives

Because it has never been the true reason for Suthep's protests and resulting coup. It just looked more acceptable to put it forward, rather than the publicise the true motives The coup happened because Pheu-Thai were using the UDD to murder innocent Thais and point-blank refused to stop. Get over it. They could not stop if they wanted to : the order had to come from Dubai and he would never give up his chance to push that amnesty bill through which was sitting on the back burner and could be forced through without the senate in 6 months. Did you ever wonder why they did that instead of just scrapping it ?. No, I suppose you didn't. Your conspiracy theories are just propaganda-for-the-gullible which you choose to believe instead of accepting the actual truth the rest of us saw by witnessing events day-to-day as they happened. But they say ignorance is bliss and you people seem happy enough to have something to whine about.

I could enlighten you as to why the coup really happened, but unfortunately It cannot be spoken of publicly.
