donation - winter cloth direct to in need

Featured Replies

I am located in Bangkok. I have some serious winter cloth and I guess no chance of using them.

is there any channel that I could bring these winter cloth DIRECTLY to those in need. I don't want them ending up in middleman's wardrobe or in the second-hand shop.

cheers

You could drive out to some remote hilltribe village and donate there. This is a fun trip, plus you get to make some people happy with warm clothes. It does get really cold up there in the winter months.

I can suggest some specific villages that are not all that difficult to get to especially in the dry season. (Roads can get tricky in the wet, but pretty much from now onwards it should be easy in just about any kind of vehicle)

Or you could send them to someone going up to a village, but then it wouldn't be direct anymore, of course.

Chiang Mai International Rotary Club is conducting a Winter Clothing Drive now. The emphasis is on children's clothing, but they could see that adult clothing is delivered to needy people in the same refugee camp along the border as the children. Their Facebook page lists the drop-off locations here in Chiang Mai:
