Hi, this question has probably been asked before in the past, but I have not found anything about it, so, I shall ask it again then.

My current visa (tourist) will expire in a few days. I already have a few thai visas in my passport.

I would like to go to Malaysia for my visa run, to the embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

But I read on the website of the Thai embassy that these documents are needed : http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/962/18989-Required-Documents.html

3. Original Letter from employer to certify the employment.
4. Original letter for bank account confirmation from the bank and Bank statement.
5. Confirmed air ticket and hotel booking.
These 3 are pretty annoying.
I dont have a job because I m a student... I have registered for classes at university but unfortunately my visa is expiring, so I need to get a new one, after which my university will issue paperwork for me to change my visa type at the immigration division at chaeng watthana (well that is what they said). So as I dont have a job, I dont have an employer...
Original letter for bank account etc... My bank is in France, it s gonna be difficult to provide an ORIGINAL letter in like... 6 days... I can surely provide a bank account statement printed from their online banking system with my credentials, but an original letter.... no way.
Confirmed air ticket and hotel booking... huh... I live in a condo, which I rent, here in Bangkok, I aint gonna book a hotel to which I wont go. plane tickets... well I aint gonna buy a return plane ticket that I wont use and for which I wont be refunded...
When I did my first visa run, in Laos, they were not asking all these stupid documents.
So my questions are, are these documents required only for Malaysian citizens who apply for a visa, or for everyone else too regardless of nationality?
Why is the Thai embassy in Laos not asking for such documents? Is it specific to the embassy in Laos (not to ask for such documents)?
What should I do?
If anyone has ever done the visa run to Malaysia, preferably recently, or if anyone knows anything relevant about it... well please tell me.
Thank you guys.

What are you looking for or hoping to obtain ?

As from 13 Nov 2015 double/triple entry tourist visas are no longer available.

The *New" multi entry entry tourist visa is only available from a Thia Embassy/Consulate in your own country and the paperwork you cite is linked specifically to this *New* visa . (The KL website appears a little confused ! )

A single entry tourist visa can be obtained from any nearby Thai Embassy /Consulate but KL is perhaps not the best choice. You would be better advised to apply in Penang or Vientiane.

(If you look very carefully the Laos Embassy demands the same "stupid" (sic) documentation for the *New* multi entry tourist visa)

well a single entry tourist visa will do it.

So basically am I gonna have to provide these documents even though I cant have them (for instance cause I dont work) in practice?

thanks

It is extremely unlikely that those documents will be required for a single entry tourist visa !

As already said those documents are a requirement of the *New* multi entry tourist visa.

There has been no change of requirement for the single entry tourist visa.

I would not reccomend Kuala Lumpur at all, they did not even want to bother issuing a single entry tourist visa, I'm talking from personal experience. They wanted proof of employment in Malaysia. I was like: what?

To be fair it happened in February 2014, but I have done lots of places so far and KL was the only one where I got refused. The woman was quite rude and kept repeating herself about Malaysian employer. No chance whatsoever. And I'm talking single entry tourist visa.

This was about 6-8 months after the fake visa story but regardless.

You've been warned! smile.png

Penang is also OK. The issue is specific people in the KL embassy. In Penang, you can use an agent which means you do not even need to deal with the consulate at all. Since no Malaysia visa is required, the cost is also reasonable.

I need a Sinle Entry TV in December, and in another thread I just posted my experience in KL last january, thats less than a year ago. Following is copy/paste from my orig post:

I was denied a a single entry TV there in Kuala Lumpur in January 2015, first ever denial of any sort of visa in my 12 winters in Thailand. Normally I get a trile entry from Helsinki, I didn't last year, so in the middel of my stay here I needed another 60 days.
Man.. if I describe the experience in KL you would not believe it!
Day 1 I go to Embassy, all paperwork with me. The lady behinf the glass asking why am I going to Thailand. I tell her for holidays smile.png She asks me why holidays so long. I tell her I do this every winter, I'm etired, I retired in my 20s. She then goes to speak to a man, who stands behind all desks and watches the room like a hawk. They talk for 10 seconds, she comes and hands all my papers back to me, no Mr, we need Bank statement, tickets. Allright, since I was in KL for a week, I thought no prob, I get all that and tomorrow all will be fine.

I print out my internet bank page with name, account No, balance.. Both Swedbank, Swedish largest bank, and Kasikorn, just in case. I print my return flight for March. So full of confidence I go back next morning.

'Nooo, Mister! Bank letter! Manager signature! Bank stamp, mister!'

Victoriously I then present my Kasikorn printout, and my smartphone, looged in to my K-Bank, think yeah, I got u now!

Nope!

'Manager letter, stamp, signature, mister!'

She wasn't interested at all looking at my K-Banking online page, where balance is clearly visible.

the KL Embasssy is not there to issue visas, that is for sure! Cos if I dont qualify for the simplest single entry visa, I dont know who does. But this was last Jan, things may have changed. Still tho, I would recommmend NOT TO GO TO anywhere near KL Embassy. So I'm wondering about HK. Maybe Im better off going to Penang, or Laos where I've never been before.

So I left and received another 30 day visa waver stamp at DM, and then 30 days later took another flight to Singapore, to be here until my flight back to Europe in March.

The End.

Why didn't you get a 30 day extension of your 30 day visa exempt entry at an immigration office.

I wasn't aware then the 30 day extension of stay is available for 30 day visa waver, I had done the 30 day extensions before, but thought this was only available for Tourist Visa holders.
