End of the flea market at Prince Royal's

Featured Replies

Had someone wanting to go today.   I was told it split up.   One is down on Chang Klan by the Chinese Temple.  The other is up by the 700 year stadium.   I don't think it will ever be the same.  There was no valid reason to make it move in my opinion.  Just some self thought of hi-so didn't like the traffic in his neighborhood, so it was ruined for all.

Where exactly is "up by the 700 year stadium"?

Not referring to the warehouse of Japanese "big trash day" items, over priced and no bargaining.

As far as Im aware the 700 year stadium if the big complex that is on the canal road coming from Huay Kaew Road and heading to Don Kuay intersection. Its actually on Chonprathan Rd (121). I cant say Ive ever been in there to see what remnants of the Prince Royal market go there.

I was also told that some parts moved to the road thats on the side of Nakornping Hospital (On the way out to Mae Rim).  However Ive yet to find the stall holders that had all the bike parts and accessories and the other vendor that had thin cardboard posters of motorcycles/cars/rock bands and other iconic stuff.  I spotted a market behind Big C extra a few weeks ago but unfortunately didnt have time to see whats there.

Prince Royal was a good market when it existed.

Leaving the moat on Chang Puak, pass through the Chang Puak/Super Highway intersection.  When you hit the next traffic light, turn left towards the Conference Center and the canal road.  2/3s of the way there, there are 20 -30 vendors.

And your evidence to support this?

Sealing off a thoroughfare between two very busy roads on a Saturday created chaos along Kaewnawarat and Ratanokosin Roads. Both Dara and Prince schools have activities on Saturdays. The roads are still very busy but flowing a little more smoothly.

To me thats a very weak defense.  If what you say was the case, they could just have blocked off Rattanakosin/CM-Doi Saket Rd. from Charoenrat Rd. to the crematorium.  There would still be access to and main traffic flow in/out the city to  the Super Highway either along Charoenrat, or along the road in front of the crematorium or the main drag in from San Dek by the juvenile court .  The stretch where the market was ,  was a side section that no one had to use unless you were living there or wanting to go to the market.    Even access to the schools is easily gained from Kaew Nawarat.  Now .... tell us.... do you happen to live along that street maybe???

...and what about school activities on Sundays????   The overall problem is there is just too much traffic and to many vehicles all over the area.   Again..... just depends on whose ox is being gored

It's not a defense, it's called common sense.

I don't think closing roads in a busy part of the town helps traffic flow. You do. We'll have to differ in our opinions.
