Help finding a beach/hotel for a friend

I'm helping a friend plan a vacation in Phuket. She and her husband are 50-60. They are looking for a quiet location with a nice beach. They don't drink/party, just want a relaxing time with some good views and good food. Hotel on the beach would be great if that's possible for at/under $100/night. They aren't used to Thai style accommodations, so something clean and safe would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What time of the year are they coming? This will have an effect on pricing, so curing low season, they might get a nicer place, while in high season, it might not be as quiet as they are wanting depending on where they choose.

Khao Lak is an excellent suggestion for these folks. Nangthong Bay Resort and Suwan Palm on the sand with a pool and walking distance onto the main drag would be something they are looking for. For transpo there although paying a little more, just have them arrange through the hotel to save headache/hassle.

From the other thread that was posted Kata Beach Resort would probably work as well as sister resort Beyond Karon.

For the posters that post they should look at Agoda or booking dot com etc., maybe they are looking for a little more inside information, no? Recently I spoke with a couple ladies that said through those sites they did not get the info they really wanted and were still not sure where they were going to stay in Phuket.

read the reviews for inside information, if no reviews pick another one. i agree with Khao Lak Edited by FritsSikkink

Interesting that some members are suggesting an area that's not on Phuket.

I would also suggest Surin.

I think that is because what is requested is quiet location with a nice beach. Surin where Twinpalm is, that road and construction (?), not quiet man, beach not so nice with all the demoed buildings, looks crappy there.

Cassia Bangtao. Brand new. Nice one bedroom suite in middle of Laguna, near the (largely unspoilt) beach but also near the shopping and restaurants of Tinlay Place, Boat Avenue Villa Market etc. Also the connected free transport between all Laguna Hotels for a change of scene. Forget the rest. Do your friends a favour and recommend this.

"I think that is because what is requested is quiet location with a nice beach." - and Phuket doesn't have one????

Doesn't say much for the future of Phuket, does it?

It was in response to your suggestion of Surin, NKM (AKA Phuketdoom&gloom), surely Phuket has some quiet locations. Windmill at Yannui would be good but it's just not "right on the beach" as well as a little rocky when entering the water, but quiet anyway.

Buddyboy, if you don't use a motorbike and don't use taxis, when was the last time you were on Surin beach to make that reccommendation? Did you walk there from Soi Nanai?

I swim at Kata Beach. Haven't been to Surin for a while.

I own a 2 year old motorbike and only ride during the day, rarely at night. Too many drunks on the road here at night.

"NKM (AKA Phuketdoom&gloom)," - you're the one recommending a location other than Phuket. You are not exactly singing the praises of Phuket, are you? biggrin.png

Again you miss the point NKM, 50-60 year olds looking for quiet, nice beach, Khao Lak is exactly that. Thats not putting down Phuket, it's just an educated reccomendation in this case.

Anyway as the OP has posted, case closed.

Again, you miss the point GOM.

If Phuket, a world class destination, does not have what these tourists require, the question must be asked, why not? Is it overdevelopment?

Phuket used to have something for eveyone, but as you suggest, perhaps not anymore. Is that "doom & gloom" or a fact? Once again, you recommended a location other than Phuket, not me.

It's accessed via PIA, and although not Phuket proper it's not really that far away, heck even Golden Buddha resort off of Takuapa would be advisable, but for those that don't get far from Soi Nanai, they might not have wandered to such places and advising that seems to make them think we're not "singing the praises of Phuket".

Maybe these folks just didn't want to travel this far and none of your negativity regarding Phuket has anything to do with it. I could reccommend many places in Phuket for them but as I tried to get through that neanderthal skull of yours, Khao Lak is more peaceful, period.

But at this point the topic should probably be closed anyway, going round and round with density is not where it's at. OUT.
