BANGKOK: -- The Anti-Corruption Organisation of Thailand has voiced suspicion over the army chief's clarification of alleged mal practises in the construction of the Rajabhakti museum park, saying it remained unclear.

Reaction from this non-profitable private sector corruption watchdog came as it sent representatives to attend the clarification of alleged corruption by the Army commander-in-chief Gen Thirachai Narkvanich last Friday.

The army chief assured of clean and clear construction of the park and none of the army personnel were corrupted. He also asked the media to report fairly and not to cause split within the Army with false evidence.

But the secretary-general of the private corruption watchdog Mr Mana said clarification by the army chief still had some issues that the public remains sceptical.

He said committee members of the organisation would meet this week to discuss the issues which include construction cost and commissions with confidence that if relevant government agencies could give more information, public suspicion could then be dispelled.

Meanwhile deputy rector of Thammasat university Mr Prinya Thevanarumitkul said a power blackout had disrupted an anti corruption activity held by a student democracy group at its Sriburapha auditorium on Saturday.

He didn’t elaborate the reason for the abrupt power blackout but said it was better to allow students hold exhibition and seminar on democracy inside the university’s compound than to hold outside.

The activity also touched on alleged mal practises in the construction of the museum park.

VIDEO : Prawit says park clarification by army chief is clear

328-wpcf_728x408.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Defence minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan says the Army has made clear clarification of the Rajabhakti museum park construction and will not mind if the National Anti-Corruption Commission will probe into allegations of corruption.

He said the army chief, Gen Thirachai Narkvanich, had clarified clearly of allegations involving the park construction, and the former army chief Gen Udomdej Seetabutr was not necessary to re-clarify it.

He said the matter would be rested with the procedure to be carried on by the Army’s investigation.

But he said if the NACC would like to probe the allegation, it could do so upon complaint being filed to it to investigate.

Asked about commissions demanded from moulding factories constructing the bronze statutes of the seven Thai kings , he said the question should be raised to Gen Udomdej as he had no information.

Commenting on several arrests made in Khon Kaen province of some people trying to incite disturbance during the holding of “Bike for Dad” activities, Gen Prawit confirmed the arrests but didn’t elaborate.

If he says it then it must be so. Welcome to your future Thailand.

Democracy will always go only as far as the army allows...

With this organisation in step with Prayuts no nonsense approach to corruption it is no wonder the corruption index of Thailand is travelling in the right direction.

The ACO of Thailand was very vocal during the last governments administration and it is good to see they still have a strong voice under this administration. Again showing that Prayut is not shutting down differing views that are benefiting the nation. Only violent ones that are not benefiting the nation.

Well done to the ACO and if corruption is found they better watch out for the wrath of the the PM.

In you last sentence you clearly but clumsily make the point about this charlatan at the top. "and if corruption is found" of course it never is when it is too close to home for him.

Lack of transparency leads to suspicion.
Why the cost and cash flows are not disclosed?
Where are the reforms?
Or is there again a carte blanche for certain groups?

A corrupt soldier boy impossible no evidence is near enough even to infer that a soldier could be corrupt what is the world coming to. They all have their Mercedes and driver and huge salaries and even bigger pensions to look forward to.

Here's an idea........ Why not move the Museum of Corruption to a new permanent building in the middle of Rajabhakti park. Sort of a themed permanent exhibit.

When one goes public with the assertion that the people with all the guns may be corrupt...it would be good to have an exit plan...a plan B...and have your affairs in order...do not sleep in the same place twice...have someone watch your back and taste your food...

Freedom of expression is very limited in a military dictatorship...walking on that thin razors edge...may cause one to have an accident or commit suicide...
