CityNews – United States Ambassador Glyn T. Davies and embassy personnel visited the Pawin Chamniprasart, Chiang Mai Governor, to discuss relations between nations as well as issues such as air pollution which are affecting the health of tourists as well as residents of Chiang Mai.

There were discussions on strategies for the future of the city, the proposed expansion of the airport in order to accommodate expanding tourist numbers and the proposed budget request to the central government for a city-wide monorail system.

And by the way Governor what is happening regarding the expansion of your Immigration Office ?

Looks like an opportunity missed? The ambassador must be aware of the immigration situation here?

If there was one topic I'd want the US Ambassador to harp on, it would be the air pollution in Mar-Apr. So kudos for that.

"Ambassador Davies expressed his concerns regarding the air pollution and forest fires and the governor explained that there were many initiatives in the works to combat this issue."

That's alright then!

Well it's certainly better than not bringing it up at all.

Excuse me Ambassador Davies, Chiang Mai Immigration is dysfunctional.. Did you see the lines at 5am?

HELP!!!

Lines for what, 'now i see'? The 90 day report? The retirement extension? The 90 tourist visa? FYI, others, including me, have no problems at all with Immig. Sometimes our troubles are brought on by our very selves, no one else.

Help? To read, to awake at 4am, to pay the fee? What is it you need?

Just another tea drinking photo op pleasantries all around nothing accomplished operation normal.Embassies ugh useless. For airport improvements maybe a few bahts can be pried out of Bangkok because it involves tourism. Monorail ha ha this takes money no sale on this one. Jobin above is obviously a visa agent customer. Everybody doing 90 days should be using the mail in service and free up help for annual visa extensions.

Really?

Oops. Not so gordo. I have never used an agent for any Immig purpose in T'land.

Appreciate your comment 'now i see'. Suggest you sign up for English reading lessons.

Looks like Davies will not be Bangkok bound like Kennedy and make personal connections throughout the country.

I'd like to see him in South Thailand to meet with the Islamic Council - you know to get a better understanding of the conflicts there. Concerns about safety of American expats and workers in the region would justify a fact-finding mission there.
