Who are the Thailand haters on this website?

Featured Replies

Why do people say "my Thai wife"?

Why not just say "my wife"?

To avoid confusion.

Confusion over what?

Who's who.

You don't know what you're talking about, do you?

Not got a clue!B)

If they don't like it here, go home....

But this is home

My Thai wife just said the same.

That's a whole bunch of assumptions you make about me there, some of which are completely untrue.

But lets discuss the topic, not the posters, eh?

The OP is about the posters.

Yes. But in general. Let's not make it about any one poster in particular.

I would like to join the I am not like the other foreigners gang and state that there is absolutely nothing to hate at all about Thailand and that the noise, heat, corruption, lack of logic, lack of responsibility, mostly shallow women, appalling driving standards, less than wonderful food, falang double/treble/quadruple pricing and general stupidity are the envy of the world. whistling.gif

That comment is an illogical, shallow generalisation. It certainly doesn't display any "general stupidity".

Whilst I don't dispute that all the things you mention exist (indeed, I have experienced them), I have never seem them all occur on the same day.

Therefore I am happy.

I also fully accept that if the combination of things happen, to make me terminally unhappy, then I shall leave. Until then I shall continue to enjoy what this dysfunctional country and people offer me. I shall continue to have my likes and dislikes and will seek to keep them in balance. I doubt that I shall ever become a hater.

When somebody posts on a forum, whether it be you, me or another poster, they leave themselves open to praise, criticism, being ignored or whatever. It is everyone's right to post what they think or feel, subject to the moderator's using their discretion.

If I post something and receive criticism from other posters, which I sometimes do, I do not take it personally, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion on things.

I do know a couple of folk who have been 'burnt' by a bird, but they still log into Thai forums for farangs and talk crap.

I talk crap all the time.

Don't need to log on to TV to do it.

Don't need any help from a woman (past or present) to do it either.

It comes naturally!

If they don't like it here, go home....

Perhaps they love hating it.

Give me a like and I will tell youwink.png

I simply accept Thailand for what it is. The good, the bad and sometimes the downright ugly.

When the 'bad' outweighs the 'good', I'll leave. For the moment though, and the past decade, I'm a happy camper.

Maybe the OP has fallen victim of the 'Newspaper Syndrome' where only the 'bad news' gets published.

Are there scams here? - SURE

Is the driving different to how we learnt? - SURE

Are there 'my gal did me wrong stories abundant? - SURE

Does the food taste different to what Mum served up? - SURE

Is Thailand a better or worse place then 10 / 20 / 30 years ago? YES, NO, MAYBE

I can't speak for everyone, but I proffer that the many of ex-pats and long term visitors lead a happy, fulfilled life, with the opportunities to do stuff not possible in the West. I do.

mate, have to agree. I love it here but will also state the truth as I see it, I know there is a lot of corruption, sh*tty drivers, rip off merchants etc and I also know there are definitely westerners that will never be happy here and complain about everything but I believe the majority of them are actually quite happy to be here. As I am not a drinker I dont mix with any of the "bar flies" everyone complains about, all the people I mix with are thai and the greater majority are good friends. Telling the truth about a country doesnt mean you hate it or have something against it, I did the same before I moved here, its called stating facts & having an opinion. For the op, when people do go overboard just ignore them as the greater majority dont think the same way, every country has its idiot whingers, accept it and move on, trying to put it on the majority of "farangs" is simply wrong and may well be due to your(op's) own biased views on others for what ever reasons but again, thats your right and you are entitled to it, wont stop me from reading posts and offering my own opinions when I feel like it.
