NomadJ Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I've bought a one-way ticket from Bangkok to Luang Prabang on Lao Airlines. Wondering if anyone has experience with this airline and knows if they will give me troubles asking for a ticket out? I don't have a Lao Visa (planning to get visa on arrival), but I do have a valid Thai Visa and I was hoping to travel back to Bangkok by land to enjoy the scenery on the way. Thanks in advance!
cnx355 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Visa on arrival: Thirty days. Available at Wattay International Airport (Vientiane), Pakse Airport, Luang Prabang International Airport, and all Thai–Lao border crossings open to foreigners. You should have no problem. You can check this web site for more information. I have been to Laos a few times and never had problems with visa on arrival. As long as you are not from the few countries that cannot get those visa: WHO CAN'T GET LAO VISA-ON-ARRIVAL?Travelers holding passports from the following countries are not eligible for Laos visas on arrival : Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Jordan, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya (Libyan Arab Jamahiriya), Mozambique, Nauru, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Syria (Syrian Arab republic), Swaziland, Tonga, Turkey, Zambia, Zimbabwe. http://www.tourismlaos.org/show.php?Cont_ID=348
AloisAmrein Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Yes, you should have no problem. The visa is valid for 30 days (included entry and exit day) and you con leave by air or at any land border open to foreigners. I go every year to Laos since I do not need a visa up to 15 days. Then I go out and return again after a few days in Thailand. Visa on arrival fast and easy also at land borders open for foreigners, also when entering from Vietnam. On weekends or after ordinary office hours you have to pay an extra fee of 50 Thai baht. If this is your first trip to Laos: Don't miss Vang Vieng and the surroundings, very beautiful landscape, and the Bolaven pleateau, easily accessible from Pakse.
