According to Google calendar, the His Majesty the King's birthday is observed on the 7th and the 10th is constitution day DELETED. According to the TV calendar, those are govt holidays which, I assume, means the schools are closed. I've heard something about a charity cycling event in honor of His Majesty the King on the 11th. That leaves only Tuesday and Wednesday as non-holidays or non-event days. Have any teachers here gotten word about their school being closed the entire week?

WE never get any information, if lucky the day before. I knock on wood that they'll drive their bicycles on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Long Live The King !!!! His Majesty the King developed his love for bicycles already in Switzerland. wai2.gif

So actually you DO get information, and you do now know more than you did before, all in all, you just seem to post whatever you think makes you look a knowledgeable and a seasoned expat.

...whereas you post to confirm that you think you are knowledgeable and a seasoned expat?

Our university is closed on the 7th and the 10th. Was told the government decided not to make the 11th a public holiday but many will take the day off anyway.

I'm not into "splitting hairs."

The meeting was about our non-existing SS for foreign teachers, so I could ask him some questions regarding next week.

But we usually don't get any information.

You lucky lot! For us, only the 7th. On the 10th there are "activities", whatever that means. No "B.F.D." day off, either.

Mind you, it's still "early" and things can (and probably will) change a few times before the end of the week.......blink.pngcoffee1.gif

The 10th is a national holiday. It's not up for discussion or 'activities day.' It's your day off. Make sure you take it. Give them an inch and they will take a light year.

So it's, "Bike to Work", for Dad.

At our school the 7th and 10th are holidays, but just because it is a holiday it does not mean that a school cannot organize an event and require teachers to attend. This usually doesn't affect foreign teachers, but occasionally it does.

Our school is closed on the 7th, 10th and 11th........the 11th as we are on the "route" of the Bike for Dad celebration (100,000 people have entered)

The school director decided it would be wise to close for that day to avoid the traffic and road closures which will affect students/teachers travelling to school

You will most likely find a lot of schools that are on the route of the BFD will be closed.....others that are not will be open.

7th and 10th are National Holidays.

The 27K Bike for Dad ride will close many of the roads in and around the city centre here, so most places will be closed, not to mention those absent from work who will be taking part.
