PM Prayut orders immediate improvements of aviation industry

A fish starts always to rot at the head. Those in charge of the FAA should immediately take responsibility and resign. I would expect that if they have only a bit dignity left in themselves.

All the people who form the backbone of this country have to think less of themselves and more for the good of the country.

Why are so many blaming the PM? He can.'t possible take care of all problems in Thailand.

Yingluck promised to make Thailand the aviation hub in SEA, just talk and no action.

At least with Prayut there is a chance of improvement in this country.

I hope he will stay on as long as it takes to clean the country from corruption and nepotism.

After that is achieved, we could focus on new elections.

Course he will stay on he has no intention of letting go of the reins of power, duhhh!

As for what he and his self elected gang have actually achieved in the year and half since he stole power well frankly I cannot think of a single thing, ooohh tell a lie, didn't he clear some deck chairs and give boy racers a stern telling off....

Yep well worth killing democracy and free speech for and as for Thai airline companies being fixed, well to be honest I am not going to hold my breath on that one just because the little man says make it so!!

Cleaning nepotism and corruption!!!!! you are having a larrf, nobody can be that naive and gullible surely, you have heard about his fellow classmate and his park in Hua Hin, his Police general mates, his and many of his classmates uncommon wealth.....

Give the PM some credit for acknowledging that problems do exist instead of reading other previous reports that just ignore the report from the FAA. Let's give it a chance and see if corrective actions take place before criticizing his directive. The PM has been engaged more and in the company of world leaders on several occasion now. It appears that he has begun to understand things differently then he may have before. He wants to grow Thailand and understands that the lack of safety will have an adverse affect on Thailand and its economy.

Deja vu. Did we not have, or similar pronouncement, 6 months ago, when they initially failed the FAA/EU/UN/(whatever) audit?

He asked all to stop and let relevant agencies to resolve the problems.

The crux of the matter is that relevant agencies have failed epically, to fix this, or any other of Thailand's many many problems.

Also asking (telling?) the press to NOT report on these epic failures, does NOTHING to solve the problems. Just the opposite, in fact.

I doubt if they have failed to do it, in order to fail you have to do something and I dont believe the people in question have done anything to meet FAA requirements. They listen and nod sagely but that is as far as it goes.

If they are serious about fixing the problems they will have to get people in from outside of Thailand. They cant wait to train people up to scratch within the country. Of course this will never happen. Thai airlines will lose customers and go into bankrupcy. Knowing the airline has a sub-standard record of safety I certainly wouldnt fly them.

He is the leader of this "state". Very profiled leader of Thailand. And it is not the first time he have ordered this to be solved.

Love the THAI reaction though, no problem, no fly there any more. What happens when the EU follows as they usually do on matters related to FAA. Not many long hauls left then...

Here we go. 'But Yingluck once said..' Well that changes the matter entirely, doesn't it?

Potential Euro air bans

Potential poultry export bans

Potential Seafood industry bans

Loss off free speech

He has not acknowledged anything the FAA warned that the system was broken and gave time to fix it, the Asians warned him and Europeans will no doubt be next....

The little man wielded section 44 and said it would be fixed, kinda didn't work as advertised though so here we are some months down the line at the end of the fixing time and it is still broken, suprised not a bit!!

His answer is then to tell them to fix it, <deleted> really!! please forgive my skepticism but with his track record on pronouncements it is probably worth betting on the opposite outcome to everything he say's, probably a much safer bet than the Thai CAA sorting their shit out....

Prayut has ordered immediate improvements of the country's aviation industry!

Here-in lies the problem facing this country now and for the foreseeable future.

Despite what junta-head may think, a civil service (and a country for that matter) is not like an army of soldiers that you can boss around at your pleasure. These people are free-thinkers who are capable of making their own decisions, and they deserve to be treated with a modicum of respect and recognition. And the same goes for the media!

Now that he has assumed the mantle of ‘top gun’ of the civil service, maybe he should start to be a bit more civil himself – otherwise HE is going to be the main cause of the continuing quarrelling and time wasting that is flourishing in this country.

This country desperately needs inspirational leadership. Unfortunately, it isn’t there, and the failure at the top is filtering down through the rest of the organisational structure (as evidenced by the FAA downgrading after months of warnings).

Incredible that there are still people who take this guy serious !

But nevermind, he won't be staying until the country is clean from corruption and nepotism, not even the dear General is immortal.

This reports reads like the U.S. aviation authority have just turned up and carried out a surprise inspection they came 6 months ago gave a yellow card and handed a detailed report of Thailand's shortcomings and what needs to be addressed in order to prevent a red card and possible ban on all Thai airways flights. this order was given 6 months ago yet nothing changed apart from setting up a committee to discuss it, then another committee to discuss the previous committee's findings etc etc. So this year a downgrade on trafficking, now aviation and in a few weeks EU Wil decide on fish exports

Having last night looked at airline ratings.com both Thai Int and Bangkok Air get a maximum of 7 for air worthiness of aircraft but their Administration is in disarray, that would cover pilot training, briefing , medicals, crew rosters etc , under that situation the crews need to fly without admin problems taking over their thoughts when flying...................................coffee1.gif

Because.................He can't stop thinking like a General instead of acting like a PM - however dubious that claim.

You can 'order' anyone in the army, providing you have the rank so to do, and he had of course. But, as a 'politician' you simply do not run things by streaming out your immediate 'orders' on complex technical issues such as overhauling the country's airline safety industry for example.

As for then blaming everyone else, well that just makes the problem worse, and seems to me simply to highlight the underlying insecurity of trying to act as the senior political figure in the country.

Reminds me of Idi Amin who knighted his cat and ordered his underlings to salute it.

It's all very sad really and, but for those pesky and beastly Americans stating things as they are, life would be rosy. I'm a Brit by the way.

Want to "solve" the problem? Scale back on the cooperation with the Chinese. Otherwise, the next shoe to drop will be a ban on Thai food exports to the US.

Every country in the world is going to keep open the economic ties with China, and rightfully so. We are not at war with China, nor are we trying to hurt their economy. I cannot see why scaling back cooperation with the Chinese would solve anything. Same response to the rest of your solution.

[Prayuth] asked that the media stopped to expand the issue further.

The Prime Minister made a similar appeal to the press – and to the public – in June.

Thai Aviation Safety Downgrade 'May Affect Charter Flights'

...Junta chairman and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha told reporters today that the public should not "get jumpy" about the red flag, because no foreign countries have formally banned Thai flights yet.
"At this time, no country has banned our flights," Gen. Prayuth said. "And we have held in-depth meetings with officials from the organization. They say [the red flag] was necessary, and they sympathize with us, and they understand our intentions to give importance to this matter."

Oooooh the irony... Everyone in the aviation industry knows that one of the biggest problems with Thai and many other airlines is their incapacity for communication, namely in ENGLISH ! The language of aviation is ENGLISH and Thai is having big problems with this........ You might want to think again about getting rid of all the English teachers, and also employ some Professional FARANGS to square your airline up........ Just a suggestion......
