Is there any banks or companys out there that will have fire insurance for a semi-wooden house? Its about 40% cement. The kitchen and dining room is cement, whereas the living room and the bedrooms upstairs are all wooden.

Contact a Insurance Broker they do the searching for you.

Just do a search for one here on the forum, many around.

Ps: I will not post the names as I might be (again) accused of working for them

We have tried to look for many banks and insurance companies but none of them will have insurance for wooden house. I have tried searching in this forum, but only found a few post which asks the question but nothing concrete regarding who to approach and the postings are dated like in 2008. I tried searching google but only links me back to the same old postings which may not even be valid anymore. For example, one reply claimed the SCB covers them but they obviously don't do that anymore as we have called them about it before. Which is why I posted this as a final resort.

So why don't you follow the previous poster's advice "Contact a Insurance Broker they do the searching for you.".

And then search from that list a insurance broker and contact them

It is not the choice why I recommended a broker in your case, it's a lot easier, as they know their way around and especially with a difficult question as yours.

There are several underwriters that will offer cover for homes made from wood. Typically this is for Fire but also other options are available on the same Policy.

I called AIG but they will only cover if 50% wood but our house is at least 60% wood unfortunately

Emailed the HuaHin AA brokers but they replied to say that they don't provide such coverage.

I have not called the Thai property.net yet, will try that one next

AIA and AIG are the same companies

We have a semi wood building and have a policy with Indara Insurance. It is a pretty old policy started some years back but they renew every year no probs.
