Removing tail light on Ranger...........help please

Featured Replies

I have cracked my tail light and want to replace the glass but on trying to remove it, it appears I have to remove the plastic truck bed to get at additional bolts. Am I missing something when trying to remove it? Is there a bolt or a screw that I haven't seen ??? Do I really have to remove the bed cover?

Many thanks in advance.

what year is the ranger? did you check youtube, as there are often a lot of how to videos in there.

thanks for the tip to go to you tube. My light didn't have 2 outside screws, so I didn't know to pull on it. Afraid of breaking it more. I will try this, thanks.

Drop thew tail gate down and there will be 2 screws on the side of the light.

The outside edge is held with clips so with an open palm gently smack the light from front to back. it will pop off these clips.

The above should make sense if you look at this picture.

I have a equivalent Mazda BT-50 and there are 2 screws visible when you open the tails gate. ,,,,Then you have to apply pressure backward to un-clip the other side.

I looked at YouTube video of a Ford Ranger lens changing to learn how to do it. It was exactly the same way to replace it on my Mazda BT-50 2010.

I just found the video again so you can see for yourself.
